Going all fangirl here
Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I love to plug authors I really enjoy, because it’s rare these days for me find a book I can really get lost in. I’ve become really picky over the years. So, when I was cruising one of my new favorite author’s website a few weeks ago and saw mention that she had a Harlequin Desire coming out, I had to give it read.

First off, I haven’t read a Desire in a long, long time because what I remember of the stories was all vomity angst, which I don’t do. I mean, if a man does you wrong, bitch-slap him and move on. But I was willing to suspend prejudice and try this one because I really do like this author.

Well, the book arrived the day before yesterday and I eagerly broke open the package. Since I’d finished my pages for the day, I thought I’d sit down and read a chapter or two before I went to bed. Big mistake! I ended up staying up late to finish it.

The book is Maya Banks’ The Tycoon’s Pregnant Mistress. Yes, it has one of those titles I roll my eyes at, but what’s inside the same-o red cover isn’t what I expected at all.

Well, sure, it still had a handsome billionaire for a hero—like that’s ever gonna happen to a nice girl who has worked hard to get her own education. He also has the requisite strapping brothers who will undoubtedly have their own stories coming soon. But the relationship that develops between the hero and heroine has very relatable conflicts. I understood his motivations and emotions, and I totally got hers. There’s an amnesia thing going on, but hey, it is a Harlequin. The sex was completely, utterly sublime.

So, if you are looking for a quick read, something that’s sexy and satisfying—I highly recommend the book. You won’t be disappointed. This is my third MB book, and every one has been a keeper.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I had read it before and came out and loved it. She is planning of writing the books for the two brothers. I believe Theron is next.

I like Harlequins for the quick fun read that they are. They are what I expect them to be and fulfill that HEA with a quick healthy dose.

I figured Theron would be next, since Piers only got a walk-on. He seemed verrry sexy. 🙂

Sounds like one I might have to read. I’ve also read one of two of Mayas other books and enjoyed them.

Okay, I got the book Saturday and stayed up late until I finished it. I enjoyed it. Now I’m waiting for Chrysander’s brothers to get their story.
