I promised I’d share, so here are the first few. My sister and I traveled together from Little Rock to Orlando. Our trip started on a sour note when we found out our flight was cancelled, but we were placed on a Delta plane and made it by evening. We missed the first of many parties with our Allure Author buddies, but them’s the breaks. Six of seven of our AA buddies made it. Meet the crew!
From the left is Myla Jackson (sis is soooo going to kill me for this shot!), Vivi Anna, me, Cathryn Fox and Sasha White. This was right before the Allure Authors’ Paradise Happy Hour started, thus the flowers in our hair. Sylvia Day was fashionably late and missed out on the photo op. We gave away a ton of books and served sangria. We had about ten bottles left and shared it with friends that night beside the pool. If anyone has pictures of the group sitting at the pool edge, soaking our sore feet, I’d love a copy!
RT is all about hooking up with friends. Okay, so there’s work to do—panels, meetings with agents and editors, etc.—but the part I enjoy most is seeing old friends. I met with my agent the first night after we arrived, but didn’t think to take a camera. It was an interesting chat. And I loved the chance to put a face to the voice I’ve talked to so often on the phone. Ethan’s a gentleman and all business. No news to share yet, but we are working hard on several projects. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Here are Beth Williamson, Kimberly Kaye Terry, and my ham of sister. Beth, I’ve met several times over the years. She just had her first release with Brava and I wish her all the luck. She’s a terrific writer and a very nice person. Kim K and I have known each other since my days in San Antonio. We’ve been through a lot together and her career is about to take off in a very big way. Sis, well, you know her as Myla, but she has an established career with Harlequin Intrigue as Elle James as well.
Meeting new friends is another great reason to attend. Here’s my new favorite person with my sister. If you haven’t read Mark Henry’s Happy Hour of the Damned, then you’re missing out on a huge treat. We met at the Kensington party where I broke my rule of no drinking at conference, because he was happily getting toasted. We discovered a mutual love for really bad Sci-Fi Channel “B” movies and Bruce Campbell.
Can’t you just tell from his expression why I love him so much?
Stop by tomorrow for more pics and stories from RT 09!
