Day at the Wax Museum (Contest!)
Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Yesterday was fun! I went with the red-headed hellion and her family to nearby Hot Springs. We shopped like mad at our favorite haunts (Tillman’s and Romancing the Stone), then made our way to the Wax Museum. It isn’t “Madame Tussaud’s”, but rather “Josephine Tussaud’s”, which is a hint that all is not quite right with the attraction. Judge for yourself.

The two year-old wasn’t scared of the werewolf crashing through the wall.

My favorite!

Needed more blood and guts, I think.

Jack Sparrow didn’t look grimy enough.

This one creeped me out. I kept expecting them all to turn toward me with their vacant stares…

Here’s my baby and me.

You’d think a wax museum would do casts of shrunken heads. But I did find a Hillbilly calendar to give away to one “lucky” reader. It’s full of helpful holidays and appointments, like “Pay Pa’s Bale”, Ma shoe the mule”, and “Shoot snakes at swimmin hole”. I’ll be sure to toss in some Delilah goodies too! Comment to win this great prize! :)

Wow, Delilah! Loved your photos–and I’m a way bigger chicken than the two-year-old! (BTW, was this the inspiration for something?)

You and yours are gorgeous, as always, too! Thanks for sharing!

Fedora! I love creepy cheese. And yes, I use excursions like this for inspiration, although I’ve already written a story set in a wax museum for the Girls Who Bite anthology. :)

Loved the pics! I would love to go to a wax museum, but I would wonder if they were like the ones in House of Wax, the movie, lol.

I’ve been to a wax museum in Canada, and the wax people are so life like you just stare waiting for them to turn and look at you. It’s creepy! But, the kids love them! So, off we go again. And if the kids are having fun, well, we go everytime! I would love the shopping part, always up for shopping!

Crystal! It was my first time too. But when I can’t get out of the country or even out of the state for a short trip, I look around for new adventures in my own back yard.

Marika! Thanks. And it’s fun when you go with someone who has a sense of humor.

Christina! Yeah, the kids in our party weren’t as impressed as Red and I were. Of course, we were talking about what the museum needed to do decorate the horror a little better….

Mina! Glad you enjoyed them—and find me at RT!!

I agree that Jack Sparrow didn’t look grimy enough, but wax museums are always fun. Thank you for sharing your pictures.

I haven’t been to a wax museum in ages! What fun. I read Four Sworn today. I am getting the rest of the series. Now I just have to know more. Oh, I thought it was great. You managed to really pack a lot into that short story!

Definitely looks like you had a good time. I went to a wax museum once when I was younger. I remember being pretty scared.
