A Winner and a New Contest!
Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

While my sister, Myla Jackson, visited me this weekend, she informed me that I’m a hoarder—that my office is cram-jammed packed with too many dragons, faeries and JUNK.

“Too many dragons?” I gasped. “How’s that possible?”

She shook her head, gaze sad, and said, “Face it. You have a sickness. How can you work with so much chaos all around you?”

“Chaos? What do you mean?” So what if I have books stacked two rows deep and a lovely collection of dragons and faeries and miscellaneous pretties.

She rolled her eyes, grabbed my wrist to hold up my hand, and said, “Repeat after me: Hi, I’m Delilah Devlin and I’m a hoarder.”

Well, sis, I do not have a compulsive disorder. I can too shed myself of some of my treasures without getting breathless with panic. (Besides, I have a green one of these precious little baby dragons!)

The Baby Dragon Incense Burner Contest

What do you have to do to win?
Post a comment—here or on my Facebook FAN page.

Definitely a hoarder of books. My apartment is inundated with them. It would be even worse had I not bought a Kindle. Love the Baby Dragon.

Please tell Myla that there is no such thing as too many Books, Dragons or Fairies. Between us the husband and I have hundreds of the former two and about 15 fairies (only started collecting them recently).

My husband also collects Coins of the World, Militaria, Charity Pin badges and Charity Trolley Tokens too. Guess as I also have over two hundred soft toys and too many earrings, necklaces, bangles etc. to count we are both big hoarders 😀

Oh please, you haven’t seen hoarding until you’ve seen my parents place i mean– oh, hi mum! 😯 *waves to ilona* i meant they have a lot of books, dragons and fairies too! 😆
I think the last count was something like 500 books, 300 dragons and a wall of soft toys that will almost certainly kill my parents when they come alive due to sheer mass.
Me? i’m not a hoarder at all! *hides her postcard collection, large pile of books, fairies and cat statues*

Donna, books are a necessity, aren’t they?

Ilona! I knew there was something I liked about you! 🙂 Would love to see your collection!

Ayla! Following in your mum’s footsteps! There are stranger things to do!

well i think it might be easier if i list what i don’t collect. LOL
i collect: teacups, teapots, tea sets and all the tea party linens(placemats, lace tableclothes, napkins,etc.). i also collect:gemstones(loose), antique and vintage costume jewelery
gemstone jewelery, jewelery settings(for rings/earrings/etc.),porclein figurines of ladies. my favorite is in full 1930 evening gown, jewels and furs. i collect and make tea hats and other victorian and vintage ladies hats.
the list goes on and on and on but i won’t take up any more room here. needless to say my family thinks i hoard a bit to, but when they need something they know i am the one to ask and if i don’t have it i know where to look for it. 🙂

According to my boyfriend, I am a hoarder. Luckily, I mostly hoard books but I have boxes in storage filled with old projects and hobbies. One of these days….

I guess I would be considered a hoarder. Mainly books, but also Care Bears (I still have my first from when I was a kid 25 years ago and many more) and various collectables of angels, fairies, dragons, and more. And I have a lot of craft supplies too. Huh, maybe I need to have a yard sale or just take a bunch of stuff to goodwill.
    Happy holidays!

Hoarder…hmmm..With two book cases stacked two rows deep myself and sideways on top of each other…Yeah I would say I am a hoarder. To top it off…I have books in a tote…yeah I have thought of getting rid of some but I know that the local thirft store will just throw them out. I don’t want them to end up there. I wish there was somewhere I could send them that would appriciate them a little more. I do give some to others in the book group we have but they only go so far. Not that many in the group. So I end up with them again and they sit here. I do reread a few of them, espeically when funds are low and I have no other books to read. They do come in handy then.

You can NEVER have too many dragons. I tend to accumulate coffee cups & mugs. I see them , love them, buy them. You will always find a cup to drink out of – to suit every taste I’d have to say.

According to my kids I am a horder. Do I care? No. I have books every where. We have pieces to a huge town….you know, those houses and stores you buy to make a model town. I have 20 or 30 Monopoly games. What can I say, I like Monopoly and like variety. And as long as you can get around the house, have semi-clear surfaces and nothing is growing that shouldn’t be, I’m good to go.

Actually, we’ve been on a cleaning spree for Christmas and the kids are shocked. It doesn’t look bad when I actually put things away.

I only hoard a few things, trolls, porcelain dolls, jewelry for the different holidays. I am thinking about cleaning out closets though. You know when you can’t get your clothes in the closet it’s time to do some tossing. LOL

Hoarder of books, definately and I re-read every single one of them too!! But for some reason I tend to hoard pens, I’m always buying pens, gel pens, markers, highlighters, anything with color and writes I buy. Every single purse I have has about 5 to 10 different types of pens in it.

I also am a hoarder of books, but am actively trying to switch to ereader copies whenever possible. Much easier on the space situation! I also seem to have lots of fabric and yarn on hand all the time. Seems that every time I want to make something, I need at least a little something in addition to what I already have.

Oh, lets see. First, BOOK! Print books, used, new, you name it. If I can’t get them new, I haunt the library hoping for someone to have donated a book or two that I am searching for to get it used at a book sale. Ebooks…..I have close to 400 on my Nook. 😉

Also, dragons. I have quite a few dragon figurines around the house, including an hour glass. SOOO pretty! Light houses….last count, I had about 2 dozen of them around, including 2 inch high candles. And wind chimes!!!! OH, lordy, do I love wind chimes! Across the back of my deck, there are 4 sets. From there, I have them inside the house as well as outside the house. From slices of purple geodes in celestial shapes to bamboo with a coconut base. I just adore the sounds they make. I even have electronic ones that I play while in my room. Which happen to sit next to my book case. 😉 I think I have a pic of that in my FB page.

I’m definitely a hoarder of books. I own over a 1000 books. My mom tells me that I have enough books to open up my own library with. I also collect horses, wolves, tigers, native american artifacts, Gargoyles, dragons and birds. I actually collect a wide variety of items, but these that I mention is what I collect the most of.

Hoarder, moi? Doesn’t everyone have the 12 inch action figures (in their boxes) from Monty Python and the Holy Grail in their living room near their Rincewind bookends? Or a few dozen bins of fabric in their sewing area to stash fabric for future projects? Or a half a dozen project bags with yarn and needles peeping out, beckoning you to take them up and finish them? No hoarding here!

PS the cute dragon would look great next to the Black Knight!
