The Texas Two-Step Grab Bag

What can you win?
The picture only shows the major prizes I nabbed at the Texas Two Step Conference I attended in Dallas last month: the conference tote bag, books by Nikki Duncan, Lorelei James and Cindy Dees.

In addition, I will fill it up with miscellaneous promo items I have stashed around my office. I’m not going to tell you what because we all like surprises, right? 🙂

How can you win it?
Post a comment on any blog posting from today until the contest ends. Each entry counts as another chance to win!

This contest ends in just one week, May 1st!!

* * * * *

And here I go…

Today begins my push to finish 12 projects I’ve committed to writing between now and January 2, 2013.

It sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? It is. It’s pure nonsense, but I’m going to give it my best try anyway. I’d love it if you could encourage me along the way. I’ll keep you posted as to my progress. So, nag me, hound me, beg me for details. I won’t mind.

You can start today by telling me one thing that will make me smile—however silly. Just post a little note to let me know you’re cheering me on while I bury myself in life on Mars as I dreamt it (Project #1).

And guess what? That silly thing is your first entry for the grab bag! ~DD

Today is my day to pick up my kids from school. My husband and I take turns. My son gets so excited when I show up. His classmates also get excited. I get lots of hugs from the kids and from my son. My son is going to be 7 years old and has autism. The little things in life are great, my kids being my big thing. What a great giveaway.
    😉

Hmm a silly thing. Not sure I’ve had enough coffee to pull my brain from the fog its in. I can tell you one thing though that I’m super excited about…. AAD. I CANNOT WAIT to meet you. I’m giddy with fan-girl delight just thinking about it right now. Now let’s hope I have the balls to talk to you while I’m there. 😀

Woot! Delilah, while that does seem a daunting to-do list, that makes me soooo happy, because there’s little I love more than your writing. Sounds like you’ll be doing your best to keep me smiling the rest of this year and into the next 😉

Silly thing? Hmm… I was scrounging for lunch stuff for the kids yesterday and filled dinner rolls with chicken nuggets so they could have little sandwiches? But we ran out of time to play Just Dance (that’s probably verging on horrifying instead, the image of my flinging myself around vaguely in time to something ;p)

Just write, DD! You can do it, and we soooooo can’t wait!

What made me smile lately was hearing that some female lawmakers, angry about all these new attempts to remove a woman’s right to govern her own reproduction, plan to introduce new legislation that will affect things like Viagra. If a woman can no longer decide when she wants children, why should a man have the help to make her that way! I laughed out loud when I read that!

I know I’m new to writing and still learning. I don’t know if this is silly but I like to listen to music when I write. It seems to make me smile when I hear a song that has meaning of what I’m writing at the time. Also what seems funny is I never liked straight romance before I got into reading some of yours. I have even thought about trying to broaden my writing with writing all kinds of stuff. I know deadlines can be nerve racking but you can do it. I’m working on a couple of books I want to get done and I also have 4 quilts to finish before the end of the year. I know you will meet these deadlines as long as you continue to keep focus on the goal. Go Girl Go Write and keep Writing LOL.

One thing that always makes me smile is listening to Alan Jackson’s song “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere featuring Jimmy Buffet. I play it at work and it never fails to lighten the mood.

My 13 year old asked me about the books I have tucked in my bedroom closet. I told him that when he is 18, I will pick out a few for him to read. Can you guess what books I keep in the closet? You guessed, my “big girl” books. And hey, it includes some of yours!!! Good luck with your crazy schedule.

    Daughters are curious~~~
A little girl walks into her parents’ bathroom and notices for the First time, her father’s nakedness.

Immediately, she is curious: he has equipment that she doesn’t have. She asks, “What are those round things hanging there, daddy?”

Proudly, he replies, “Those, sweetheart, are God’s Apples of Life.

Without them we wouldn’t be here.”

Puzzled, she seeks her mommy out and tells her what daddy has said.

To which mommy asks, “Did he say anything about the dead branch they’re hanging from?”
