Tell me a story… (Contest)
Saturday, August 27th, 2016

I am a very visual person. Often, I’ll begin a story based on picture. That picture will usually inspire a title, first. From there, the rest is magic. My brain takes off from that initial picture, whether it’s art I found on a stock photo website or an image I dreamed.

So, let’s play a game today. Consider the picture above, your “writer’s prompt”. Your stepping-off point into a story. I don’t expect you to write paragraphs. A single line will do. For instance, when I saw this picture, my first imagining was: “I dropped the bag of groceries on the counter then turned toward the open door, ready to go back for another bag, when a bright light shone—a moment before the house shuddered and the floor shifted beneath my feet.”

That’s all I have. You can have that “Close Encounters” moment. A flashlight beam. Whatever. And you don’t have to make it pretty! Play today for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card! Have fun!

After being blind for so many years, the surgery worked. I looked up and saw light coming through the open door.

The bright light from the door being opened woke me. As I reached for my pistol in my nightstand drawer, I kept my eyes on the door to see who had been brave enough to not only break into my home, but to turn in lights and open my bedroom door thinking I’m not going to defend myself. Then she stepped in the doorway and all she was wearing was a nearly transparent nightie. She was my neighbor who had been flirting with me for months. I could only imagine what are was doing scantily dressed and in my home in the middle of the night.

I woke up to headlights streaming through the master bathroom window and a loud crunch as the car hit the house.

The sexy masculine voice said, “Come with me and fulfill your desire.” I stepped into the light and into my wildest dreams.

Marie had made some bad choices in life. When one of those ended her life before she was able to make atonement for her past she was not allowed to pass on to hereafter. Being stuck in limbo while still having the memories of all the pain she caused other people in life was almost like being in hell. But for some reason she has been given one more chance. She needs to help a living person that’s heading down the same road she took. This was harder than she thought it would as she not only had to try and help someone that is more stubborn than she was but she also gets to see from a outside perspective how her action effected others.

After finally helping her person to change the path of her life all of a sudden to her left she saw a door and when that door opened there was such a blinding light behind it that at first it startled her but soon after she felt the most warm and peaceful feeling come over her and she knew she had finally achieved what was needed to cross over to heaven.

The hairs on my body were rising, I knew he was getting close. It had been years since we last saw each other. We were together for days never leaving each others side knowing the distance that would be coming soon. The ground rumbled as the truck came up the driveway heading toward the house. I was shaking, so nervous to what I was to see, hear and touch. Would we touch? Would he remember the past days of our short time? Would it continue on like we never left off? The time, the time was telling or was that the clock ticking so loudly to my now sensitve ears.. Hearing the heavy footsteps of the boots he always wore I turned as the door flew open and a bright light seized my eyes, His body outlined in the silhouette. We stood staring at each other which seemed like hours, but only seconds. He stepped farther into the room and held out his arms. I didn’t know whether to run to him or slap him. It had been way to long then I expected. I missed him. I loved him. I wanted answers.

I was alone in the house and was truly surprised when I saw a light turn on in the other room! Should I investigate or run away?

I opened my door and just very bright light came through so I stepped back as I wasn’t sure what it was when this extremely gorgeous Angel, who was well muscled and very well endowed as he was only wearing a thin cloth and wings walked in and said “take my hand and I will take you to heights, ecstasy and highs, you have never experienced and never will with anyone else”, so I went with him and holy hotter then hot.

I was asleep when a noise woke me. I found the the door burst open and a bright light was shining.

My eyes flew open and my heart was pounding on over drive! I looked to the left and saw the door open and the light shining bright. I was alone in the house and my senses were in high alert, the hair on my arms and behind the back of my neck stood up, the shiver of fear making my mouth dry. I stood up and quietly tiptoed to the door. I lived in constant fear that they would find me and I tried to be blend in as much as I could, but the fear was always there. I took a look and all I saw was the tv was on, I looked around the living room and nothing was out of place. I sighed in relief, how did I forget to turn it off? I was just to click it off when writing appears in the screen…”Did you forget about us? We are looking for you for you, we need you!” A ghostly face appears and then I scream a hand is reaching out of the screen…..

I turned around, saw the light and thought “Oh no, they’ve finally found me. Now what do I do?”
