Happy Thanksgiving!
Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Quick NaNoWriMo update: I have 41,207 words. Today will be a strictly non-writing day. So, I really do have to make my days count as I head to the finish line.

My daughter’s family plus her in-laws are coming for the meal. I’m not cooking a thing, but I do have the housecleaning detail. Happily so. Anything I cook they’d have to chisel at with an axe, scrape off the burned spots, or add enough pepper to give it some flavor. Thank goodness someone in this house likes to cook.

I hope all you Americans have a wonderful Turkey Day. I hope you’re spending it with loved ones. I know it’s a lot of work, but happy faces around the table make for a nice memory.

And for anyone waiting on me to get something into the mail for them—all prizes went out yesterday!

I hope you a wonderful thanksgiving and an enjoyable time with youre family. I also hope the Turkey was good. Didn’t get much of a thanksgiving in China as my family is in America.

One thing I am curious about.. How much research do you put into a subject before you begin writing about it?

I broke my diet for the day. Pigged out on turkey and ham and bread stuffing. Heaven!! But the best part was spending the day with family.

As to the research question. It depends on whether I know the location and whether it’s contemporary or paranormal. For paranormal stories, I like to research the mythology and twist what I learn to make it different. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s a huge part of the story. My Dark Realm series was based on a lot of Sumerian, Jewish and Islamic lore.
