Hey there! I’m guesting at The Smutketeers’ blog today! I have an excerpt, some fun interview questions, and a book to give away! Click here to join us: The Smutketeers

*~*~*~*~*

Did I mention my little brush with celebrity at the Akron airport?

At the end of Romanticon, my dd and I were set to fly out of Akron. We had a little time on our hands, so I suggested we hit a gift shop to purchase some last minute souvenirs. I picked out a couple of magnets and stuffed animals, and then went to the register. A man was in front of me, paying for his purchases. He seemed tall (I’m 5’4″—everyone seems tall), wore a dark leather jacket and was in pretty good shape. I was admiring that shape when he turned his head. Even in profile, I recognized him on the spot.

I elbowed my daughter. “That’s Corbin Bernsen,” I whispered.
“Who?”
“Corbin Bernsen…you know, Psych‘s dad!”
CB left the counter and walked away.
“Is he famous?”
“You didn’t recognize him?”
“I wasn’t really looking.”
“He was right in front of you. What do you mean, you weren’t looking!”
She shrugged. “He’s an old guy. Who is he, anyway?”
“You mean to tell me you’ve never watched Psych?”
She shook her head.
“But he’s been in a dozen Sci-Fi movies.”
Still, she shook her head.
“He was Arnie in LA Law for chrissakes.”
She patted my shoulder. “I get it, mom. You’ve got a crush. You’ve always had a thing for bald guys.”
Bald guys?! That’s all she noticed? Gah!

So what about you? Have you ever had a brush with the rich and famous?

BTW, CB’s even hotter in person!

I’m with you! I’ve always thought he was a hunk…. so how did you keep from tackeling him?? ;o)

The only celebrities that I have see up close are the sports figures that I (used to) BEG for autographs for my sports crazy son…… Mom’s will do just about anything for their kids!

Betty! LMAO! I really had to fight to restrain myself. I didn’t want to scare him. And I hear you about sports heroes. David Justice was buying a car at an Atlanta dealership and I send my daughter who was six at the time to get his autograph for her brother.

haha that sounds like the kind of conversation I would have with my mother in that situation and oh my gosh she hasn’t seen Psych!
I have never bumped into anyone famous before just a couple of those “reality show stars”.

My son was so much into sports memorabalia… several summers we took our vacation time and traveled throughout Florida (where we live) to visit the different baseball training camps for autogtaphs. My son would tell me WHO he wanted and then “let me loose”… and then he would sit back and laugh his buns off….. what a Mom won’t do for her son! We also live fairly close to the Dolphins training camp and again he would request and I would hunt down the “target”. LOL… it really was fun though and a great way for the 2 of us to do some bonding time. Oh, and he has a rather nice collection now ;o) Best Wishes with the new book!! Gotta LOVE those Vikings. I am looking forward to reading it.

I’m so boring, no brush with fame. I think CB looks better bald than with hair. He never did much for me on LA Law, but now…Come to mama.

I have never had a brush with a celebrity. I would probably just hyperventilate if I ever did, lol. Or have a heart attack.

Oh, and Shadow, to me, authors ARE the celebrities! (In which case, I have had the pleasure of meeting Tawny Weber, Julia Rachel Barrett, Regan Taylor, and Dee Brice in person :))

I used to work for the Dallas Stars hockey team so I had my fair share of sports celebrities that I met, saw, drooled over and basically re-fell in love with all over. Most memorable was meeting Wayne Gretsky back in 2000 during the Stanley Cup Finals. He was much shorter than I thought. 😀

Corbin, Corbin. Loved him as Arnie and in Major League.

when i lived in Wyoming every 4th of July the town would have a celebrity be the grand marshall of the parade. usually i could not get even close enough to see(5’0″ so i could not see over the crowd). the year i took my husband back for a visit with my family we got right up on the front curb and the parade stopped right in front of us. on this little mustang pony sat Steven Segal. the man is like 6’4″ and his feet almost touched the ground but man was he gorgous! this was back in the early 90’s and he was a big star at the time. 😀

That is hilarious that dd was oblivious to Corbin’s star power. I’m not sure if I would recognize him since I never expect to see anybody really famous. The only star I’ve met is Henry Winkler. I have a pic with him and everything. And yeah, he’s sorta old compared to the Happy Days. lol

Well, when I was in Canada few years ago at this small airport with my aunt and a very heavy bag (with 3 months worth of stuff inside) and this handsome guy asked me if I needed any help with it and he carried it for me. After he was gone my aunt told me he and the guys who were with him were famous Canadian golfers. Obviously, I was clueless. I must mention, that she isn’t all that interested in golf, but I suppose she knew about them the same way I know about some Finnish sportsmen and women whose face I see on tv every once in a while, whether I’m interested in that particular sport or not.

Sure have! I work in retail and we have this loyalty card we have to sell. One day this nice young man came to my cash and asked to pay for his purchase; I told hime about our card, its benefits and where it was accepted and finally its cost, he smiled and said :yes. Then I asked for some information to input and after thanking me very nicely and taking his card, he said: Goodbye and left. Then I noticed all my co workers hiding behind shelves and once he left they all came over and congratulated me, of course I said for what? I’ve sold lots of cards and they replied: don’t you know who that was? One of the main hockey players for our Ottawa teams the Senators! I still don’t know him!!!!

I was walking down the street in Washington DC and there was Sam Waterston. I was totally excited. I love Law and Order. So I turn to my family and announce “OMG, there is Sam Waterston!” My kids turn around and go…..

    “Isn’t that the Ameritrade guy?”

Ugh! Although, I guess it’s better than the time my mother stood up in the middle of a restaurant screaming “It’s Benson. Look, it’s Benson!” Luckily, Robert Guilluame has a great sense of humor about the situation.

Years ago, while walking down the sidewalk in NYC after leaving the Museum of Natural History, passed Dudley Moore who was arm-in-arm with two much taller, much younger women – he looked very happy.

Also years ago, when my sister-in-law was in Florida for a week with a friend & their kids, they took my nephew for a walk in his stroller. An older couple walked toward them, smiled at my nephew, the man ruffled his hair, the woman chatted about how cute he was and they moved on. It was Frank Sinatra & his wife Barbara.

No brush with the rich and famous for me. T did run into UFC Fighter Forrest Griffin at DIA. It was the one time T wished he was wearing his uniform at the airport. lol
