The Authors After Dark Grab Bagszzz Contest…and a Question!

The Authors After Dark Grab Bagszzz Contest

Yes, bagszzz, as in three of these pretty nylon totes stuffed full of goodies!
There will be three lucky winners!

What’s in the prize packszzz?
Things too numerous to mention, but which include: author’s water bottles, note pads, nail files, koozies, bookmarks and trading cards, and tons of other kitschy stuff. Stuff you HAVE to have, including my mini bondage kits—okay, so they are office kits with paper clamps and twine to hang your Post-its, but I like the mini-bondage set angle better. And of course there will be books, some signed, some not. Whatever I could grab or was given to me to give away. Three winners will get a very nice stash!

What do you have to do to win?
Post comments on this blog from now until the contest ends! Each time you post counts as another entry!

This contest ends August 30th!

Here’s a question to start today’s conversation:

If you were offered five acres of property anywhere in the world, where would you want that property to be located? And no, you can’t turn it and sell it for something else. You have to LIVE there or vacation there for the rest of your life!

If I could have 5 acres anywhere in the world, I would have to take them in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I went there for vacation this year, and I swear it is so beautiful there. It would have to only be a vacation home though, because I don’t think I could handle winter up there!

In a way that is a tough one. I want to be some place warm now. Body can’t take the cold like it use to. But I have always dreamed of being in a cabin in the mountains near a stream or lake. Where a wife and I can live very happily. I even have been writing a story like that. It takes place in the Appalachian Mountains. Now there is a place I could write.

HI D!!! OMG I was so mad that I couldn’t get down to NOLA to meet you!! After all these years talking to you through DJ and the gang to miss the chance to meet you!!

OK, to the question…either 1/2moon bay or Bodaga (sp) bay…right on the beach! Camping, swimming, surfing…mountins …my hubby could get fresh sea food and I could see where we “hide” all the sand!!

Deb! I’ve looked at West Virginia myself since land is so cheap, and it’s not like I’m looking for something I can grow things on. A creek flowing nearby, pretty hills, the quiet… Yeah, I could so write there.

Strohs! Bodega Bay sounds fun! Like a pirate’s haven. And I love beaches and sea food. Can I come visit? Sorry we missed each other in NOLA. I was there for DAYS!!!

Penny! How sweet! The rest of us are looking for escapes and you’re looking to go home.

Elaing8! I’d love to give it a go too! But with netting to surround my bed. You’ve seen their snakes, right? And those big hairy spiders that run at you on their back legs. THAT would creep me out! 🙂

I’d love either a vacation home somewhere in Wyoming – I wouldn’t be able to handle the winters, or a full time home in the North Georgia mountains.

Oh, and I have a tote bag obsession. My hubby just do not understand, but you can NEVER have enough!

Delilah -We’ve been wanting to move up to the N. GA mountains for years now. We frequently rent cabins up there for vacations. I’m now in what is considered the “Atlanta Metro Region” and it is getting WAY too crowded. Sitting on the porch listening to the trees sway in the breeze up there in the mountains is one of the most relaxing things I know to do.

Easy question. It would be somewhere close to Waverly, Minnesota, close to the rest of my family.

My nephews are now having children and I love seeing my great nieces and nephews. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it is beautiful here.

Also, i have no idea what a Koozie is.

Deb! Your grandma’s place sounds like a perfect writer’s retreat!

Shauntih! I used to live in Norcross which at the time was considered outside the metro area, rather like they look at Stone Mountain these days. So I know your pain. Used to take me more than an hour to go 12 miles to work in Sandy Springs!

Lisa! I’ve never gotten the chance to spend much time in Minnesota, but I hear it’s beautiful. And I don’t mind snowy winters. Even kinda like the idea of being snowbound while I write…

    Delilah:

The winter isn’t too bad, but I definitely have a love-hate relationship with it. I love to bake and stay inside when it is snowing and 30 below. I hate having to shovel the driveway, drive to work in the ice and snow, and go out in general when it is that cold/snowy.

It is beautiful here with the lakes, the trees, and the fields. It certainly makes my 30 miles each way to/from work not so bad.

If I had 5 acres..It would be here in Ketchikan Alaska. I would build my dream home. 6 bedrooms (at least, I have 4 kids) a library or a hid-a-way for me to escape into so I can read, a hobby room for the other half, and at leats 3 bathrooms. Hopefully near or on the beach. With a dock of course….A private beach would be a nice bonus.

Very creative minds to present a contest like this; LOVE it!!
Thank you for the contest and a chance to win!!!

As for my 5 acres: I know what I want…lol

a place in CALIFORNIA or KENTUCKY to include as follows:

Nice hills with green/blue grass that you can see “forever” (miles away). I would have a country luxurious ranch house with many different wings. The wings have certain “themes” throughout with different ideas… and the barns for the horses…it is a ranch…hehe

Nice master suite wing with a fireplace, king sleigh bed, sitting area with plush rug and an en suite bathroom with a glass shower for many and a jacuzzi tub to enjoy

Definitely need a “dungeon” on the ranch. Just think of all the different “daily tools used on the job” to use in the dungeon and the different wings. Oh just think of the FUN I am going to have!!!

Thank you del and have an awesome day!

I would want it to be someplace warm and tropical, but not too. A beautiful island wold be great, one with lots of fresh fruits and flowers, palm & coconut & banana trees. Preferably with a lagoon that has a waterfall maybe some caves to explore. But it would still need to have all the modern conveniences, including internet wifi and be able to easily get books & ebooks 🙂

I got to thinking about it last night and I’m not sure 5 acres on a tropical island in Vietnam is my best choice. Honestly, what would I do there? I don’t even speak the language. Plus, I would be half way around the world from my family. So, I’m thinking maybe 5 acres near the Grand Canyon or the Badlands. As an added bonus, there are so many beautiful things to see in the area!

I would have my five acres in the US Virgin Islands with a huge beachfront. I have been there twice before and love it. I would choose to put it on St. John, since it is less developed and mostly protected forest area. It is absolutely breath taking, the beaches are the most beautiful I have seen with some of the nicest locals ever. It is very laid back and life runs at a much slower pace. 😉
