Aloha from Hawaii! Mahalo to Delilah for inviting me back.

April 2013 037I’m on a long-awaited vacation to Maui with my husband. Sounds like we picked the right time to come—record low temps in Montana today. 17 degrees in April? Brrr!

85 degrees here on Maui today, with 90 % humidity. This creates warm, balmy air that feels like a kiss on your skin. Today we drove up to Kapalua Bay. Set up our beach chairs with trade winds blowing puffy clouds across the blue skies and the ocean lapping at our feet. Surrounded with green palm trees and golden sands, we snorkeled around the turquoise bay. Spotted two moray eels and two huge sea turtles among the coral, while tropical fish darted past like little rainbows of color.

Then it was back to Maalea Harbor for a visit to the Maui Aquarium to identify our fishies in huge lighted fish-tank displays. Saw some sharks, too. That’s where I like my sharks—on the other side of thick glass! After that we relaxed with a microbrew and some pu-pus (hors d’oeuvres) in a harbor side open air bar with live music.

If this sounds like paradise to you too, wish you were here! But if Hawaii isn’t in your itinerary this year, how about a mini-vacation on me?

I love Hawaii so much I figured out a way to extend my vacations here (in my fantasies, anyway) I set an entire series of contemporary paranormal red hot romances here. My Hawaiian Heroes will whisk you away from snow, cold and rain to the land where palm trees sway, and gorgeous hunks await you for a fantasy adventure.

My Ho’omalus have been tasked by Pele herself, goddess of Hawaiian volcanoes, with keeping her islands safe while she sleeps deep beneath her islands. To do so, she’s gifted each one of this extraordinary family with powers from her islands.

Burning up the Rain, Hawaiian Heroes, Book 4 debuts May 7 at Samhain.

BurningUpTheRain72lgHer powers could save her island…or bring their love crashing down.

Despite her successful career, Lalei Kai-Ho’omalu has always considered herself mere decoration in a dynamic Hawaiian family, with none of their powerful gifts. Destined for life in the background as a useless, upper-crust wife.

Desperate to escape her mother’s latest matchmaking attempt, Lalei acts on her sizzling attraction to a guest at her cousin’s island wedding, making him a bold offer he can’t refuse.

A no-strings, no-holds-barred affair on Nawea Bay with the sexy Hawaiian beauty is just the break California Realtor Jack Nord needs from his fast-paced career—and an inner darkness he’d like to forget. Just for a while.

Their very public liaison is the shocking declaration of independence Lalei intended—with unintended consequences. Stirred to anger by developers set on carving her family’s unspoiled ancestral lands into a resort, Lalei discovers she has the supernatural power to stop them.

But when Jack learns his lover can bring down the rain and throw bolts of lightning, whose side will he take? The money-making machine? Or the woman born to protect her island home?

Jack is my idea of a true hero—strong enough to let a woman do what she can, while he has her back. Hmm, and her front too. Oh, yeah.

What about you? If you could take a vacation and just … stay, where would that be?

Leave a comment and let me know, and I’ll enter you to win a FREE ebook of your choice from the series. Be sure to leave your email address so I can contact you!

Hawaii hasn’t been on my list of vacation spots, but I have to say, after that little blurb it sure sounds nice. Even Texas is a bit nippy right now. (current temp is 46) I have been enjoying your Hawaiian series, though I haven’t gotten to this one yet. Maybe I need to fix that. In the mean time, enjoy your vacation and gets lots of inspiration for more books!

wow Cathryn this is one of the hardest questions I think Ive ever had to answer to try and win a book, and I know that it would probably help my odds some if I said Hawaii because the books are based in Hawaii–but–I would not be telling the truth.lol although Hawaii is very beautiful,I have to admit that if I could chose anywhere,I would love to say all 7 continents-don’t want much do I LOL however if all expenses were paid the very first place I would go is Scotland because first its beautiful and it goes so far back in history it would take a lifetime to explore all the castles and historical sites and legends to follow up on.And of course doesn’t every woman want to know what those beautiful Scotsman wear under their kilts if anything? zanarigrandma@gmail.com

I would love to go to Nashville or Hawaii would be cool. It would be hard to come back from either place. I have read a few series with Hawaii as the location and it seems like such a relaxing, calm place. This is a new author for me. Looks great.

I would love to go to Hawaii or the eastern Carribean. My type of vacation is sitting on beach drinking a beer and reading my books 🙂

So glad you are enjoying Hawaii. I have always wanted to go. Especially after watching Hawaii 50 & Magnum P.I growing up. The new Hawaii 50 takes me there every week now, but with Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, and Daniel Dae Kim. Spending time with those 3 hunks, now that is a vacation. 🙂

Yay, Cathryn! Looking forward to more in this series! As for dream vacation, I have to say that while I love seeing the rest of the world, there’s nothing for me like coming home 🙂 I’m blessed to live where we do, and I’m not sure I’d be ready to move, even to Hawaii!

    Ladies,

    Awesome! Thanks for stopping.

Just got home yesterday from Maui, slept for 12 hours (after being awake for almost 24–late flight with a long layover.

Already working on my next Hawaiian Heroes, which will be a novella, featuring a new hero! Saw a guy on the beach (with his darling family, I’ll add) that was Hawaiian ses-on-a-stick!

He’s my new hero … and he’ll never know, lol!

    best,
    Cathryn

Aloha, my face is RED, RED, RED and it ain’t sunburn. 😳

Seriously, if authors are gonna toss around expressions like ‘sex-on-a-stick’, they should at least be able to spell it!

All right, ladies, hope you are not dizzy from spinning around in the Random Flufferator. Erm, some of you need to fix your hair–it’s all messy. Just sayin’.

And … Judy-Ree is the winner of her choice of a FREE Hawaiian Heroes book. Judy, I’ll be in touch.

Thanks again to Delilah for letting me guest on her blog, and I hope she’s having fun at the con.

    Aloha,
    Cathryn Cade
