Jennifer Kacey: To Care or Not to Care? – That is the Question (Contest)
Friday, April 25th, 2014

Everyone has an opinion, right? And everyone has the right and freedom to share that opinion. Absolutely.

But that doesn’t mean I have to let that opinion affect me. And thankfully I’m very lucky in letting other people’s judgments roll off my back.

I care what some people think of me and my writing. The people that “get it” and “get me”.  Not the people that are shocked, appalled, and offended by it. No matter how great it is they’re still going to be offended, appalled, and shocked by it. It happens.

Trust me, I know what I write isn’t for everyone. ***GRINS***

I don’t like sci-fi…who knew? That doesn’t make me a bad person. So, me writing, reading, and devouring Erotica, ménage, same sex, medical fetish, like Orgasm University that just released, and a whole host of other taboo topics doesn’t make me anymore of a bad person.

I’m gonna tell you guys a little secret. Come a bit closer to the screen so I can whisper it to you…

I like tattoos. *GASP*

And piercings. *The horror*

And a WHOLE LOTTA KINK!!! (If you’re feeling woozy this may not be the blog post for you.) *smiles*

I like life, and love and respect and family and singing and crochet and laying out on a sunny beach slathered in SPF 5000 so I don’t burn.

All of these things make me…me.

And I’m proud of the me I have become. I’m still growing and changing and exploring everything the word has to offer, and feel blessed for each day I get to continue my journey.

For those of you this strikes a chord with – MWAH & HIGH F***ING FIVE!

For those of you that turn your nose up at it and wrinkle your face….please refer to sentence two above.

The best advice I’ve ever been given. “Find the real you and NEVER settle for anything less.” I live by this sentence. Every day, every hour.

I think if more people did, instead of being judgmental and hateful, the world would be a better place.

My two cents.

Now it’s your turn. Want to win a free e-copy of Orgasm University? Let me know what you think.

Do you care what people think?

jkorgasmuniversity_msr

Victoria’s been called frigid by every boyfriend she’s ever had. Having never gotten off during sex with even one of them probably has something to do with it. But none of them knew how broken she really is. She not only hasn’t gotten off having sex, she’s never orgasmed…ever.

Then she sees an interdepartmental memo for a university study that claims it can help with her little problem. Once she signs her name on the dotted line, Dr. Hotlidge, finds all the right buttons to push.

He’s been looking for the perfect subject for his grant study, but something’s been missing from each of the women he’s questioned so far. Everything changes when Jane Smith #129 steps into his exam room.

It’s supposed to be anonymous, clinical research and nothing more. But when he finds her inner submissive hiding just below the surface, they both find more than they bargained for.

I spent way too much time in my younger years trying to please others and worrying about what they think. Now at 44-years old I worry about myself, my hubby, and my kids. I am tattooed, pierced (professionally employed since these are my personal business that most don’t see), and not embarrassed to say I enjoy reading erotica/smut/kink. It really helps spice up a 15-year marriage and has made our relationship become stronger and more intense than when we met 18-years ago.

I would LOVE to win a copy of Orgasm University. It is on my TBR list since I found your fantastic stories with “Together in Cyn”.

Ya, sure, you should care about what people think…but only to a certain extent. My 16 year old daughter wants a tattoo (I have a few) but I’ve told her she has to wait. Her dad (my ex) is totally against them, thinks they are trampy (hmmm…would he feel the same if he wasn’t my ex?) But I’m still suggesting she not get it on her inner wrist which is one of her chosen spots. There are still too many people who think they are taboo. If she wants one later in life there, then ya, go for it…but start slowly. Having said that, I do try to get her to think and act on her own, not as other people think she should (except for me, her mom, of course!)

I’m 51 and to a degree I still care. I have a feeling my mother knows I read the really steamy stuff, but we don’t talk about it. It’s bad enough when she calls the urban fantasy and mainstream paranormal I read crap. “You don’t really read that crap, do you?” I also don’t read paperback erotica with spicy covers in public.

I have no desire for extra piercing, tattoos, etc., but I’ve always thought people should do what they want with their own bodies and if I had kids I would support them (but tattoos 18+). Do it while you are young before it might limit your job opportunities (temporary visible displays like hair styles/colors, unique clothing choices). Being practical, I would still recommend all tattoos be coverable. It’s one thing to express yourself and another to potentially shut yourself out of a professional field.

    Charlotte – Mom’s are a bit different! 🙂
It’s the people you don’t know, or don’t KNOW you that I can’t stand getting their opinion shoved at me every two seconds.

Hope she enjoys what she gets and waits until she’s REALLY ready for it.

Anne – the professional aspect of it is tough. Definitely wish people were more accepting of other people’s likes.
    Here’s hoping that will change!

I don´t care, I go by the “live and let live” and I can´t understand how neighbors can´t have anything better to do with their time than keep track or talk about other neighbors. It´s mindboggling, I can´t keep track of birthdays and relatives – where do they find the urge to do this?
I let people do what they do without me bothering about it, as long as they don´t try to do it to me LOL If they want to play tennis in the winter, or marry the same sex, go ahead, as long as they don´t try to make me play tennis, or snuggle with them =D
    Happy Friday!

I’m a mother of 6 and grandmother of 12 and out of those 12 grand kids half of them are what I deem (white) and the other half I deem (Multi-Pretty) –>Half Native American and Half African American and I LOVE THEM ALL THE SAME. I have two earrings in each ears a belly ring, a tattoo of a wolf head and purple feather on my left leg representing my native American grandmother who passed away 13years ago and about 6 weeks ago my daughter-in-law talked me into getting my nosed pierced (OUCH) and my next and probably only other tattoo will be a turtle rattle to represent my other side of the native american clan grandma that just past away a couple years ago. So a lot of people judge me of my family so don’t be my friend. A lot of people judge me of my piercings, so don’t be my friend. A lot people judge me for my tattoo, so don’t be my friend. As the years go by I kind of make Motto’s for myself and for this one is: People need to get in the GREY area with me or STAY OUT OF MY LIFE…… and this is the: SO 2000’s PEOPLE…..

Oh yes! You go girl. Who cares what someone else thinks? We need to be true to ourselves. I actually started learning that lesson quite young. Could be why I was a female serving in the military in the 70’s. Not as easy then as now. In fact, back then, it was rather radical. Been marching to my own drummer ever since. I, however, do love Sci-Fi! And erotic Romance and cop shows, and knitting. It is all good. Thank you for sharing.

There are a few people in my life whose opinion matter to me. But those people know me well and don’t judge (or perhaps they gave up the notion that I would conform to anyone else’s rules).
I definately live by the live and let live rule.
That said, if someone does something to harm one of mine (I have two rowdy boys to keep up with) all bets are off. They WILL get my opinion and perhaps and boot in an uncomfortable place.
I have just never understood why so many people feel it’s their place to criticize others for a tat or piercing when it isn’t hurting THEM.
Be who you are, babe! You’re beautiful inside and out!

Used to worry when I was in high school and college, but as I got older…just don’t care anymore! I’m me…take it or leave it and if you leave it….your loss, not mine! My daughter is a junior in college and she’s getting it now! I’ve always told her that the people who matter most in her life will want her to be herself!

Ask any of my children and they will tell you catagorically that I do not care what others think. People take me as they find me ‘or they know where the door is’ has always been my philosophy 😀

Am truly my own person and answer only to myself. I have only a few people in my life that influence me in any way now or that I ask their opinion on things and I find living this was so much easier and less claustrophobic. 😉

I honestly don’t give a flying fuck what others think of my reading habits or what I choose to say & do. As far as I’m concerned if they don’t like it or me, well then that’s their loss. 😈 I’m 44 years old, married to my soul mate, a Mother of three adult children & have 4 beautiful grands. I realized long ago you can’t please most people by being yourself and I’m way to independent to try to fit a mold of what others expect me to be. What you see is what you get ❗
