Happy Birthday to Me!
Saturday, June 28th, 2014

This won’t be a long post. I’m house-sitting for my dd and her fam while they’re on vacation, and so only nipping in to my office to check my mail.

It’s my birthday today! Mom gave me a packet of painting brushes and a couple of water-color books—one for Irish landscapes and another for orchids. Love orchids! I’m not hard to choose gifts for. Give me things for my art or post-its and pens for my office and I’m over the moon. 🙂

I’m sure my dd is picking up little bits and pieces on her trip for me. I will love the surprises, I’m sure. No one knows my taste (or lack of) better!

Birthdays at my age can be horrendous for some. Not me. I’ve never minded the march of time. It’s just a number. Want to know mine? I’m 56 today. And for someone who played hard in her youth, and who experimented with EVERYTHING, any year past 21 is gravy. I didn’t expect to live this long. How about you? How old/young are you? Do you fret over birthdays? Did one particular number get you down? Or are you grateful for being able to continue this journey?

I definitely expected to live this long! I am 32, but the older I get (despite how young I think I am), more things seem to break and wear out. I do not really worry about birthdays anymore, because I have two daughters, and I worry enough about their birthdays to last me several years. I am very grateful to be able to continue on my journey. 🙂

I hope you are having a wonderful birthday!

I will be 36 on August 4th. Honestly, I never thought I would live this long but I’ve never let a birthday get me down. Life has been a struggle to say the least and my birthday to me signifies I’ve survived another year.

I don’t fret anymore over birthdays….I’ll be 59 in September. I’m so happy you’ll be painting, I was an art major in college so I love painting in oils and drawing in pastels! I’m working on one now of my granddaughter Gali (who’s almost 2.) Happy Birthday Delilah!!! Let me know how the painting is going. 😉

    HaPpY BiRtHdAY Delilah!
I hope you have a wonderful day, a fabulous week and a year ahead full of surprises and adventures that make you smile. 🙂

I’ll be 58 years young in October. 🙂 In my younger years I did a few crazy things but I was always cautious not to get caught. 😉 I’m looking forward to many more adventures in my future!

Happy happy birthday. I am 71 years young. I never expected to live this long. All my younger siblings have past on, but I’m still here. I was a wild child and survived. I wish you many more years and the experiences to enjoy.

    Happy, happy Birthday!!!

My toughest year was 25. My sister who is two years younger than me got married that year and I felt crappy. Now, I don’t care. I’ll be 53 on July 4 and it’s all good. My boss likes to tell me age doesn’t matter as long as you are on the right side of the dirt. He’ll be 73 in August, so I’m going with his wisdom.

    Have a great day!!

I enjoy my reading, crafts, and spending time with those I love and have become friends with…so on that note my friend I hope you are enjoying your special day!!!

Happy Birthday!!! And yes, it’s just a number.

As long as I’m on this side of the dirt, I don’t worry about it. Every day is a gift and could be our last, so I’m gonna read till I die and take my kindle with me to the grave. 😆

First, 😆 Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Delilah! Happy Birthday to you! 😆

Yea, I just had my 55th b-day and received the sweetest present ever! My great-granddaughter was born! Doesn’t get much better than that!

Nope, I don’t worry and/or stress over birthdays — unless my family forgets it… which they did last year… well, a couple of them did — but they were the ones that hurt the most…

Have you had someone close to you forget your birthday? How did you handle it? ❓

    Happy Birthday!
This year I turned 49 and alas my birthday sucked. My husband of 25 years decided not to acknowledge me or it in any way. No we weren’t fighting which is why it hurt so bad. It’s been a month since and I can barely look at him and have not let him touch me. My kids are great took me to watch Godzilla so I try to remember that instead of the hurt.

    Happy Birthday Delilah.

I turned 53 at the first of May this year. When I turned 40 got to me a little but otherwise I’m blessed to be here. And, most days I don’t feel my age, actually younger. Only if I’ve had a long or stressful day to I feel 53. I tell my nieces & nephews that I’m 46, who promptly go tell their moms, my 3 sisters who are all younger, and they explode with a lot of denials…lol

I’m hoping you are enjoying your day.

Happy Birthday Delilah……hope it has been awesome. I will be 65 January 10th and 7 years ago I was diagnosed with lung cancer…so I did not know if I would still be around to go on Medicare…:). But I am still here so all is good. So I am looking forward to this one!!!!

Happy Birthday!!! I’ll be 42 in August. I love birthdays, 40 was really hard for me. I’m thinking a night if debauchery for this birthday will make it a night to remember! Lol now to start planning 😛

Happy birthday! I’ll be 60 in November. That’s almost impossible to believe. I remember being asked by a teacher in junior high to imagine where I’d be in 2000. That felt so far away, I thought I’d be dead by then ( & not 40). As long as people don’t believe me when I tell them how old I am, I’m fine.

I read through all the comments. Thanks so much for sharing! Some of you don’t mind the passage of time, some of you admit to a bit of “grieving” for the loss of youth. Had to laugh at Michelle’s mention that when she was young she thought she’d be dead by the year 2000. I remember thinking 21 was so mature. And then it was 35, and then 50, and now? I’ve figure out I may never reach “maturity.”

    Thanks so much for sharing!
