Jocelyn Dex: Belize Nights (Contest)
Monday, October 27th, 2014

Thanks to Delilah for hosting me today and Hello to all the readers out there!

Belize Nights is my new, erotic contemporary romance (novelette) set on the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize. Yes, I’ve been there. No, it’s not a retelling of my vacation. It’s fiction. (Just in case you were wondering. :-)) However, one of the scenes is not total fiction. There is a scene where the heroine snorkels with sharks. I did that! Still can’t believe I did that. Talk about scary! For legal purposes, I’d put the “Don’t try this at home, kids” warning on it, but secretly, I’d tell you to totally do it if you have the chance.

Giveaway!

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done? Tell me in the comments
and I’ll select one person to win a copy of one of my backlist books.

Belize Nights Blurb

Lana’s traveling to her dream vacation in Ambergris Caye, Belize expecting sun, sand, clear water and relaxation. When she assaults a stranger with her carry-on bag at the airport, she’s overwhelmed by her all-consuming attraction to him.

Dean can’t get the clumsy brunette from the airport out of his mind. The way her chocolate eyes had devoured him left him yearning for more, so when he runs into her on the island, he makes the most of the opportunity.

When a dizzying heat engulfs them both, they realize Lana’s short vacation isn’t enough time to tame their burning desires.

His expression instantly turned seductive. An electric current buzzed between them, sizzling the air, making her flush. She gulped her beer hoping the cool liquid would ease the flame burning her insides.

“Ya know,” Dean leaned toward her, his eyes boring into hers, “the real reason I hesitated when you asked me in?”

Her throat constricted at the heat in his eyes. “Not because of my klutziness?”

He slowly shook his head. “It was because I didn’t know if I could resist the urge I’ve had since you fell into my lap on the plane.”

He looked so serious, voice so low and husky. Her stomach quivered. “What urge?” she asked, breathless.

“To kiss your pretty lips.”

Oh god, she wanted him. Irresponsible or not, she wanted him baaad. She’d wanted his mouth on her since first laying eyes on him. “Then don’t resist.” Her bold words surprised her, but she wouldn’t take them back. Couldn’t take them back. If he didn’t kiss her soon, she swore she’d die.

The scariest thing I’ve ever done was fly to India and stay for 14 days. I was given a free plane ticket and I needed the $2,000 for meals and hotel. I sold my life insurance policy and my high school ring of 30 years and I got on that plane. It was a life changing experience.

when my daughter was 18 months old a man on the run from the police ran into our apt. building and shot bullets at the door lock of my door and the girl who lived across the hall & kicked the doors open.He came in ripped out out phone cords, turned off all our lights,my daughter started crying and he said if she didn’t shut up he’d kill her, then he went across the hall and kicked open Cindy-my neighbors door,I could hear her screaming and him shooting his gun again.my daughter started crying again and I was terrified he would come and kill her so I crushed up a tylenol#3 which is too strong for a baby her age but it was either drug her to sleep and hope she didn’t die from the medication or have her cry and know he would kill her.She fell asleep after she finished the bottle and I went in and hid us in the tub.She was still sleeping 9 hours later and I really got scared. The police were outside but every time they approached the building he shot at them, the police turned off all the utilities and as it was december it was freezing.About 1/2 hour later I heard a bunch of loud footsteps and realized the police had come into the building, they didn’t even know we were there.I found out that Cindy had been raped, sodomized and thrown out the 2nd story window and was paralyzed from the neck down, she was only 19 and still lives in an assisted care facility.I got lucky because apparently he forgot my daughter and I were there and though I hope and pray I am never in a situation like that again,if I were I would still drug the child because the chance of overdose is less than the threat of being shot to death which a baby does not understand, and drugging her was the scariest thing I ever did,I was in a plane wreck once but I didn’t so that so I guess that would not count!!

The scariest and hardest thing I ever did was sign a DNR for my partner of 27 years.
