ElleDelilahgrowingup

Us playing dress up!

How many of you have sisters? Or have a friend you consider a sister? I’m fortunate that my sister is the fabulous Delilah Devlin! I know. Be jealous! We are only 2 years and a handful of months apart in age and we grew up sharing some of the same adventures. Now that we’re writers, we have so much more in common. When something big happens in my writing career, my sister is the first person I call. She celebrates with me and understands some of the strange things that I consider successes in this business. I love my husband and my children, my mom and my dad, but my sister GETS me as a writer.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI was stuck writing my story THE BILLIONAIRE CINDERELLA TEST and she offered to take a look at it and give me some feedback. She read the first 13,000 words and nailed the problem immediately. My hero wasn’t very likeable and he needed a stronger motivation to behave the way he did. After an hour on the phone, I came away with a stronger hero, a better story and a hunger to finish it. She’s awesome and I wouldn’t trade her for the world.

Billionaire Online Dating Service. Let us find your perfect match!

Desperate to find a date to his own charity ball to avoid taking a spoiled debutante, billionaire Gage Tate agrees to give his friend’s online dating system a try. Tired of gold-diggers and society princesses, he wants a woman who isn’t after his money, and won’t become a bridezilla-wanna-be when exposed to his high-society world and the trappings of wealth.

She never expected a computer program to be her fairy godmother…

Fiona McKenzie returns home from college to discover the family ranch threatened by foreclosure. Desperate to find a way to earn enough money to pay off medical and mortgage bills, she’ll do practically anything to save the home she loves. Unbeknownst to Fiona, her stepsisters enter her name in an online dating system, which she flat-out tells them she doesn’t have time for nor the inclination. Her focus is on saving the ranch.

When Gage’s date is reluctant to go out with him, he’s challenged to win her over. After a little digging, he discovers she’s in a tight financial situation. He sees this as an angle to pay for a date, help her out, with no strings attached when the charity ball is over. Only he didn’t count on falling for the pretty cowgirl, turned Cinderella. With her family ranch on the line, Fiona has no other choice than to accept Gage’s offer and she’s swept into a world of high-society most girls would consider a dream come true. Fiona isn’t impressed, but finds her prince charming a little to attractive to forget when the spell wears off.

Note: Make a stop at Myla Jackson’s Ugly Stick Saloon in this story and say Hi to old friends.

My sister & I didn’t grow up together, when I was born, she was married and had just had my niece! Then she moved to the west coast. It wasn’t until we were adults that we bonded over our differences and similarities. I was a change of life surprise, my sister was 21. I think she was amazed at how different Mom was with me as compared to her childhood. It’s amazing how much we did have in common (outside of our parentage). Our outlooks, likes and dislikes even with 2000 miles apart. My sister died a few years ago and I often reflect on how lucky I was to be able to connect with her and my wonderful nieces and their families. 🙂

I have four sisters. I’m Alpha and #6 is Omega. (We have a brother in the mix, too.) I absolutely adore each of my siblings. Wouldn’t trade them for a new pair of shoes!
Thanks for sharing about your sister. Nice.

🙂 II’m so lucky there’s only 14months between us. She is funny. Hard-working and so generous with money and time. She remarried at 50 to a younger man who absolutely adores her.

My sister is under two years younger than I, so we were close growing up, too. (I bet that if I dig through old pics, there are probably some of us playing dress-up as well. ) For a while, we weren’t close, distance-wise or otherwise, but we’ve reconnected and it’s a wonderful thing. 😀

I was blessed to be a twin, so my sister and I have been best friends since the day we were born. My dad tells the story of how we entertained each other from the beginning. We have had our time apart where life sent us in different directions but we always get back together. Now we talk to each other every day and only live a couple blocks away from each.

I have triplet sisters that are 2 years older than me, I always felt like the quadruplet of the group because we all looked alike and the age difference wasn’t as significant as we got older. We are all so much alike and after 50 plus years, we still enjoy each others company. We get together on the triplets birthday to celebrate all of our birthdays each year. We will stay up all night playing Yahtzee and catching up on our lives. The middle triplet Patsy aspires to become a writer.

I do have a sister but am sorry to say we are not close at all. I love her because she’s my sister and we have a history, but I don’t really LIKE her. Know what I mean? She is very judgmental and tries to tell everyone how to live their lives.
Example~~ she has been married 4 times and insists on telling me how I should treat my marriage and my husband. But see, it’s like this~~I’ve been married to the same man for almost 45 years so I gotta be doing something right. Really irritates me when she has absolutely no idea what it takes to make a marriage work.
She’s unhappy and wants everyone else around her to be unhappy too. Life is too short for me to feel that way. I see her about 4 times a year, along with our brother, but as far as an everyday relationship, not gonna happen.

When I was in grade eight, there was this boy who bullied little kids so when he started on my little brother who was in grade three. I had warned him to leave him alone. This boy was in my grade and kept on doing it again. Well I got pissed off and punched him in the mouth. I did not want to resolved to violence but he gave me no choice. Anyways he got laughed at cause a girl gave him a fat lip. Since that day he stopped his bullying tactics. And little kids where no bothered by him anymore. Nobody treats my family like that. I would do my best to protect them.

I have the best sister! We may not be blood but we are closer than some that are. She is always there for me and is just plain the BEST sister ever! I’m lucky to have her. Her family and my family were friends already when I was born so I have had her my whole life. Chance made our families friends but our hearts made us sisters 🙂

    Hi Myla

I’m the oldest of 4 sisters and each of my sisters mean different things. My sister Becky who is a year and half younger than me, we grew up very close. My sister Teresa has the biggest heart and is all in with whatever. My youngest sister Jennifer, who is 13 years younger than me, is a riot. Jennifer has a great sense of humor and we have hobbies that we both enjoy. I don’t get lonely with these chicks. And, I can always fall back on one of the three brothers.

I have two sisters – one is eight years older the other is less than two years younger. My younger sister and I fought like cats and dogs when we were young. Now that we are way past grown we get along pretty good. I moved 1100 miles away over a year ago and have flown back “home” to visit her twice and really enjoyed my visits. My older sister lives across the street from me and we see each other a lot. I also have a brother and SIL who live just a couple of streets away. I am so lucky to have family near me. We live close enough to get together often but not so close that we smother each other. 🙂

I love both your and Delilah’s books. I think it is so neat that you have writing in common.

Wow – I don’t know what I was thinking. LOL I just realized that today is only Thursday. That is what retirement has done to me! With no structure to my days any longer I can’t even remember what day it is.
