UPDATE: The winner is…Catherine Maguire!

* * * * *

It is never too late, in fiction or in life, to revise. ~ Nancy Thayer

I love that saying. It’s so simple and so true.

I love the thought of new beginnings. Today’s the beginning of a new month. I have a bright shiny new schedule prepared to help me step out with vigor. Whether I finish everything listed on that plan is still up in the air, but I have hope.

This is the first of December, which means there’s just one more month to go before a shiny new year begins. December is always filled with planning activities for both personal goals and writing goals. I take New Year’s resolutions seriously. One resolution my sister and I shared at midnight, December 31, 1999, was to become who we were meant to be. Which led us to writing. We stepped out smartly in January 2000 with very specific goals, and look at where we are now. We performed the ultimate revisions of our lives.

My question to you is whether you make New Years resolutions or not.

No, I do not make resolutions — new year’s or otherwise. I have found over the years that I’m just setting myself up for failure. I do set goals throughout the year, however.

Thanks for the chance to win! 😀

I don’t usually make them. Might make one this year though. I’d like to lose weight for my daughter’s wedding in the fall!

I don’t! I have a little issue with anxiety so I rather not get stressed over it!

I don’t make resolutions. I did when I was younger but they never seemed to stick. I say now, I will try to be a better person this year. 🙂

When I was much younger, I would celebrate with my Mom and Dad. We would go to the New Years Cabaret held by my BBF’s dad, who was a Latin band leader. We would dance away till 1-2 in the morning then we’d take my friends home where my dad would make breakfast for everyone at 3 in the morning and dance some more. Those were the days.

    Good afternoon Delilah,

I use to make resolutions at the New Year but I no longer do so. But I must admit that you have me thinking about doing so this year…especially in regards to my finances.

    Many thanks,
    ginger

I stopped making them because I never followed through. I’m so glad that you and Elle aren’t like me. 🙂 Both of you are on my favorites list. <3

I haven’t made New Year’s resolutions in a long, long time. I do make writing goals, though this year’s have gone to hell. lol

I started working on my goals for the new year today while at work–we’re in our slowest month of the year, so it’s okay. 😉 And I actually have one personal goal I’m pondering–not a resolution, but a goal, which I’ll break down the way I break down my writing goals, so I have a better chance at reaching it.

I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. I believe in making promises to yourself throughout the year.

I like the “I believe in making promises to yourself all year” statement. And I can’t believe how many of you said you don’t make New Year’s resolutions because you know you’ll fail. 🙁

I resolved to write 50,000 words during NaNoWriMo this year, but only made it to 40,000 words. I don’t consider that a failure. Also, have you never heard the old adage, “If you don’t try, you’ll never succeed?”

Maybe, you need a goal support group. Some of us writers have those. We commit to our goals each week, and are accountable for stating our progress. That’s just one of the weapons in my arsenal that helps me keep focus on the end goal.

Anyways, thanks so much for commenting. I always love seeing your comments and getting to know how you think. I appreciate the feedback!
