I have a good friend who teaches at a very small, rural school. This school has every grade from kindergarten on up, and she teaches seven art classes to all these children. As you can imagine, supplies are always hard to come by, and more often than should happen, they come out of her pocket. Lately, she’s resorted to having kids bring in cardboard boxes for them to cut up to make dioramas, empty milk jugs for them to paint ghost faces on for luminaires. She had to stop making the dioramas because they ran out of hot glue sticks and paste glue sticks.

So, here’s what I’m asking, even though I know your own kids’ art teachers need supplies…  However, this school is not well-funded. The parents of the children do not have deep pockets, so fundraising locally doesn’t provide what she needs to teach these kids.

If you can, send supplies to me to distribute to her. However much or little, anything will help. Today, I went on to Amazon to buy a 60-pack of glue sticks for $15 and a box of 500 assorted crafts supplies (pipe cleaners, google eyes, pom-poms, etc.) for $3.70 (actually, I found those on a review site called Vipon where you can get discount codes to purchase things on Amazon, so that’s how it was so cheap!).

She needs literally EVERYTHING — art paper, construction paper, glue sticks (60 won’t last long), hot glue sticks (large and small—she especially needs the large ones to build props for the drama class she also teaches!), paint, colored pencils, water colors, pallets, scissors, washi tape, paintbrushes—anything a smart, crafty woman like she is can use to inspire her students to create. Maybe you have used colored pencils tucked away in some drawer that still have some life in them—rubberband then together and stick them in an envelope. They will be appreciated!
