Diana Cosby: Inspiration From Nature – Deer (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Jackie Wisherd!
*~*~*

©Diana Cosby 2020

Photography is an enjoyable pastime, one that refills my muse.  On my walks, I see such a huge variety of animals and birds, but it’s always wonderful when I see deer.

I usually come across does with their young.  So, it’s a treat when I spot a buck; on rare occasions, I’ll see more than one.

Deer are beautiful animals.  Seeing them always takes my breath away.  They have such a calm and majestic presence.

As spring arrives, I keep watch for fawns.  They’re usually hidden deep in the woods or when alone, laying down in tall grass, so it’s always special to see them.

As the year passes, the spots fade from the fawn’s coat as they grow.  By winter, they’re so big, it’s hard to tell the yearlings from the adult deer.

What do you like best about deer?  If you’ve seen deer, what’s your favorite memory?

When I was little and lived in Colorado I saw deer many times. I always thought they were sweet animals. Bambi was always a favorite movie of mine.

It has been some time since I have seen a deer… my area has coyote, gopher, owl, bobcats, etc. Surprisingly, we had raccoon visit the other night… have not seen them around before… I think all of the new building being done in the area is moving the wild life…

My current PNR WIP features a white stag. The park across from my house is called White Deer Park after the white doe that used to live here. (It had been hit by a car.) Total inspiration for my hero, even if I switched genders.

Delilah could have you on her blog every single day and I would never get tired of seeing your beautiful pictures.

The last home we lived in, in Ohio, we used to get deer in our backyard from time-to-time (mostly in winter). We lived in a heavily populated suburban area, with a freeway behind our house.

Back in the late 70’s it was all farm land and woods. As homes encroached on their habitat the deer adapted and would nibble on the things they found in peoples’ yards.

I loved to watch them while I worked at my desk (I worked from home 3 days a week).

~Hi Beth, I appreciate your stopping by and sharing your hero’s inspiration about your WIP. So sad to hear about the white doe, but wow, how special that the community came together and named the park in memory of the deer. Take care, and I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

~Hi ButtonsMom2003, wonderful seeing you. Thank you so much for your kind words about my photography. I have fun seeing what nature photos I can take, and I’m humbled that you enjoy them as well.

~It’s always amazing to see nature in the wild. Like you, I tend to see them more in the winter as well as they’re out foraging for food.

I loved to watch them while I worked at my desk (I worked from home 3 days a week).

~:) Watching deer is amazing and relaxing. Take care, and I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I just went to Amazon and downloaded one of your books, so please don’t enter me in the contest as I want someone else to have a chance to read your story also. But I wanted to comment and thank you for the nature photography. The fawn are beautiful.
