Ad Astra–To the Stars, I think… (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is Ophelia L!
*~*~*

The other night, the family rewatched The Martian with Matt Damon. Terrific movie by the way, if you haven’t seen it. Man gets stranded on Mars and has to survive until he’s rescued.

Of course, after we watched the movie, we talked about space exploration and colonizing the moon or Mars or some far-flung planet. My daughter is in the “Oh Hell, No” corner. She’d never go. Whereas I wish I could live long enough to experience space travel myself. Maybe it was because of watching Star Trek and Lost in Space on TV as a kid, but I always wanted to be a space explorer. *sigh* I live in the wrong age. I should have been born five hundred years from now. Whereas, my daughter wishes she’d been born in the early 1950s so she could experience the music, the Summer of Love, and the fashion. She inherited my flower child gene.

What about you? If you had a chance to be picked to be on the first team to colonize Mars, would you? Comment for a chance to win the download of your choice from my backlist!

Haven’t given space travel any thought really. I guess I wouldn’t mind it but I wouldn’t want to be one of the first people to go. Send me after things have been scoped out some.

Ever since I was 10 or 11, I wanted to go to the stars. Tried and failed at an aerospace engineering degree. Three dimensional calculus is not my friend. Gave up on anything space for a very long time.

Slowly I’ve been reading more Space Opera again. I’m thinking of writing some type of spacey thing now. And I have told my husband, if we ever win one of the truely big lotteries…I am buying a trip to space.

Any chance at all and I would totally go to the moon and beyond.

Do not want to travel to another planet. There is plenty to see here on Earth.

I’m with your daughter in the hell no category. I didn’t get on a plane until I was in my thirties.

Haven’t seen the movie, but loved the book. If it were like McCaffrey’s Talent series, then I’d go… Like the Martian…ummm…no!

I loved that movie. I never gave space travel a thought. I might go but wouldn’t want to be one of the first ones to go.

I have no interest in moving to Mars. I watched the series Mars and decided that was a hard no.

Ooooo what a good question! I think if I was much older, in good health, and my kids were all grown I might go. I’ve always been fascinated by space and it would be interesting to experience that sort of travel one day. Maybe a Mars vacation? 😉 That way you can have the best of both worlds!

Not sure I’d take an 18-year (one way) trip to Mars… but I’d do lots of questionable things to fly the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs on the Millennium Falcon!

I think I would go but I would make sure I had several books. People will need a library for a new society. I wonder if the Martians use the Dewey decimal system
