I’ve been busy sharing photos of Snowmageddon on Facebook and Instagram these past few days. We had a “once in a lifetime” weather event, per the weathermen. We’ve had these cold temperatures before, we’ve also had this much snow, but we’ve never had two snowstorms hover over us for so long, which is what’s causing all the problems with accumulation. All schooling this week was virtual, which was no biggie for my kids since they’ve been virtual since COVID hit. There’s been no mail delivery since Monday because the roads are impassable. We’ve been dripping every faucet non-stop. We had the hot-water pipe into the kitchen freeze up, but on Wednesday it warmed up just enough the pipe unfroze, so now we’re running both the hot and cold water to make sure it didn’t refreeze. Looks like no pipe damage. Woot!
My SIL, dd, and the kids have had a blast. My SIL tied a river innertube to the tractor and “sledded” the kids around the yard. He cleared the driveway and built them an outside “igloo”. There have been snowball fights—everything they’ve seen on TV and never experienced before because we NEVER get this kind of weather. Never this accumulation for sure.
I haven’t had as much fun. Early on Wednesday, I sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast. The little one’s coat was hung over the back, so she came rushing in because she was heading outside to play. I rose partway to help her free the coat, but didn’t realize that when she tugged it away, she pulled the entire chair with it. I sat and fell, my tailbone, and then the back of my head, slapping the floor. My head’s okay other than a bruise. My tailbone? Let’s just say hydrocodone and tramadol are my best friends…

Being from Ontario 🇨🇦 snow is part of my life every winter. Last year we had only one significant snow fall. This year we have had 3 so far. We had a green Christmas so I am sure we will have a white Easter. Now that I don’t have to work anymore I look forward to the snow.

We don’t get a lot but this year we’ve had more than before. Since I retired I just stay home and read or watch a movie. Some of the drivers in Virginia are crazy so it’s better to stay off the roads.

Snow, snow, snow, sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. I love it when it is coming down all soft and quiet. I love it when it stops snowing and is as pretty as a picture. I hate it when I have to shovel it. I hate it when it is dirty and slushy, and I hate it most when people get stupid and forget how to drive. LOL

I actually love winter. I grew up in the middle of PA, between two mountain ranges, so I grew up with real winters, lots of snow. I miss that now, between global warming and living in the eastern part of the state. I’m still waiting for a good snowstorm, we haven’t had one in about 5 years, just little bits of snow here and there, maybe 6 or 8″ at a time. 🙁

So sorry to hear about your tailbone! Those injuries are so painful, and awful for a writer who needs to be able to sit so many hours at a time.

I would prefer not to have a relationship with snow. But alas, I live in Michigan. I must. Currently, the mail carrier is upset with me. The front walk is not shoveled clean. I am disabled and “help” is just so hard to come by these days. *sigh* I live next to a church and the snow from their parking lot resides in my back yard. (Yes, it was an agreed upon thing. They keep my driveway plowed in exchange. Now if they would shovel the front walk . . .) Overall, as long as I can sit in my warm cozy house and look at it out the window, I am good.

My relationship with the snow has changed now that I am retired. I no longer have to worry how am I going to get to work or home. I worked as a nurse so calling in was never an option. I like it when it first falls before anything touches it. I don’t like when it becomes all dirty. I especially don’t like walking in it. As I get older the fear of falling is a real worry. I fell once on my tail bone it s very painful and takes awhile to heal.

Unfortunately, I’m more the type “ooh, look at the pretty snow. When is it leaving?” I much prefer Autumn weather. For me it’s a countdown to Spring.

I enjoy these puzzles! As for snow I like when I can actually get out and enjoy it. I love walking it in….I love to hear the snow crunch. I love how the snow sparkles in the sunlight. But I think I wish it were for a couple months only and then go back to warmer temps

4:11 When I was a kid snow was mostly fun. As I got older I wasn’t fond of it if I had to go out in it or had to shovel it. Now I’m happy to just see it in pictures. I’m much happier living in Florida since I retired.
So sorry to hear about your fall. I did something similar when I was around 12 or 13 because a chair was pulled away when I stood up for a minute. I hope you mend quickly. You’ve had more than your share of bad stuff lately. Hugs

I like snow but I’m in Florida so the only time I get to see or be in the snow is when I use to go visit my brother in law and sister on the different bases they were at or if I head up north just to see it.
It’s fun but I wouldn’t want to deal with it all the time.

I live in Florida now and while I miss the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC, I don’t miss the ice. The snow was fine. But I wouldn’t trade the warmer weather here in Florida.
I’m sorry to hear about your fall. I had a rolling chair slip out from under me at work and the cement floor cracked my tailbone. I had to sit on a donut pillow for six months. I did get a new office chair though.
