Story Cubes — Tell me a story (Contest)

UPDATE The winner is…flchen1!
*~*~*

I bought this little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. “Story Cubes” is a brainstorming game. You roll the dice and whatever pictures appear, face-up, are the ones you use to riff off a story.

To make this fun, I’ll offer a prize—a $5 Amazon gift card—good for purchasing one or two stories…

Have fun with this! Don’t overthink! Here’s the roll…

To solve the puzzle, I had to go on a little treasure hunt first through a zoo… hmmm, what will I find?

While eating my bowl of rice I opened the bag. Inside the bag was a puzzle. The gears in my mind began to grind. As I slowly worked to put the puzzle together I realized it was a map of the zoo complete with pictures of an elephant, octopus, and monkey. I’m sure I looked confused because I have no idea what it all meant!

The octopus and his elephant friend ate rice for lunch.

Nobody is going to make a monkey out of me while I try to put all the pieces together and make sense of it.

I was following a map using my gear driven bike when suddenly a monkey stole my bowl of oatmeal. I raced after him made as all but an elephant got in my way. Then I realized the final piece of the puzzle. I needed a bag of octopi. Was I ever mad!

Oh no! While I was preparing my morning oatmeal, the clever monkey conspired with the elephant and released the captive octopus from the aquarium. While I wished this was nothing more than a challenging puzzle, I knew I’d be fired if I didn’t provide my employer with a map to the escapee’s location. Good thing breakfast fortified me and I already had gears in motion to undo the mischief!

The monkey had been upset because the gears on his dune buggy were broken and he didn’t have the bag of cash that the mechanic wanted to fix it. His friend the elephant took him on a trek to visit his cousin the octopus at the coast. They all enjoyed a lovely vegetable curry while putting together a jigsaw puzzle of their favorite movie, The Jungle Book.
