UPDATE: The winner is…Angela Carter!
*~*~*
So, the other day, I posted a poll to choose the next theme for another Boys Behaving Badly Anthology. The winner of the poll is “Burn”—a tentative title. I’m okay with that. So, authors start thinking about how you can use heat/burning/fire in a short story between 2500 to 5500 words. I’ll put together a Call for Submissions soon and make a formal announcement.
Ugh. My puzzle generator changed, and I don’t like change. I hope it works similarly to the old version. Since I’ve settled on a theme for the antho, I thought I might list some ideas authors might play with for their stories. For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, tell me which idea you love. If you have another idea to offer, I’m sure authors would love to see it!

Some interesting ideas here. I think I find the Undersea volcano the most interesting. Or maybe Hot planet. It will be interesting what stories you get. The same ol’, same ol’. Or something a bit newer or less written.

I’ll admit I’m a sucker for a firefighter (my two brothers are firefighters). Am definitely sending in a story…

Volcanologist sounds interesting or Sun God maybe

I am a sucker for smoke jumpers and national forest fire fighters

Firefighter and smokejumper sound good to me.

You could also have a welder or a blacksmith. I think smoke jumpers are fascinating.

Glass blowing, the idea of a crucible.

A SUNGOD for me.

Arson investigator caught my interest. A smokejumper is a good one too. Brainstorming, I also came up with Grill Master, Campfire Cook, Fire Scientist, Burn Coordinator, Artistic Glassblower, Burn Unit Medical Professional, and an underwater welder — dangerous and requires a specialized skill set. That’s all I got, but there are several options that don’t follow the normal firefighters, NOT that I don’t love a fire person they are better folks than myself to do what they do. I just find it interesting to research, learn, and read about folks that are outside the norm.

Apparently I failed to proofread since my punctuation in the above is horrendous. That is so embarrassing 🙈. It is what it is.

I love the burn theme. How about things like welders or glassblowers? Maybe a fire marshal?

I’m not familiar with smoke jumpers but it sounds interesting. Blacksmithing or lumberjack

Arson investigator, firefighter, smoke jumper, I like.
In many places today you will find people are double or tri trained, police, fire, and EMT. Damage control is a navy term for firefighter main area. All are trained as firefighters in boot camp and beyond. Do a lot could fall under these books.
Can’t wait to see what they came up with this time around.

anything but arson investigator (was married to one of those)

Ooh… vulcanologist? Though I admit I have no idea what that involves. Welder? Grill master/chef/someone who roasts pigs? I love Mary’s suggestion of glass blower… Candle maker?
