Saturday Puzzle-Contest: Mad about goats!
Saturday, May 17th, 2025

UPDATE: The winner is…flchen!
*~*~*

It’s Saturday! The kids got through their last full week of school before the long break that starts on Thursday. The pool is beginning to clear up. We can see to the bottom of the shallow end! Woot. Not that we’ll be swimming anytime soon, even if we get the pool water clear. We haven’t had hot enough temperatures, sustained over a couple of weeks, to heat the pool. I remember some years when I was already in the pool by April 15th! Not so this year. It’s frustrating. My incision has healed enough. Why won’t Mother Nature cooperate?

We’re supposed to have some thunderstorms starting this evening. Which got me thinking about the goats. They have a small hut that they huddle inside during storms. We have three goats. They are our pasture and fencing mowers. They keep the brush down. Plus, they’re great entertainment. They’ll climb on anything, and they love to smack their horns together. It makes a horrible racket, and we’re sure they’re murdering each other, but it’s just them maintaining their pecking order. Our three geese keep them company in the pasture, too.

And now, I sound like a boring farm lady, in a farm family, but we’re really not. Yes, we keep goats, chickens, and geese. The only food we raise is eggs. We have too many dogs and cats. I can’t imagine living in a town or city again and not being surrounded by forest and animals.

Anyway, I pulled older photos of our goat babies to share. We no longer have that horse, Brandy, but I do love the “goat porn.” So, today’s puzzle image is one of our goats. I hope you enjoy the puzzle.

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, solve the puzzle then tell me about your plans for the weekend—if you have any. Our plans will be lowkey, and we hope we won’t lose power. Maybe I’ll find an old movie to watch. I’m thinking it’s been too long since I watched that old Johnny Depp movie, The Ninth Gate. Maybe I’ll guilt a kid to watch it with me. I’m not too proud to pull the grandma-card. 🙂

Weekend plans – reading – family dinner tonight at local restaurant and then fingers crossed the insomnia will actually allow me to sleep more than an hour or two today – I literally feel like I would think a zombie feels like. The struggle is real…. Still blessed and it will all be ok. Hugs and prayers for you and yours, T

I hear you about the insomnia, Theresa! Night before last, I couldn’t sleep until 3 AM, with my alarm set for 6 AM to get up with the kids. Last night was the same. Just 3 hours of rest. I’ll likely be napping at some point today!

Weekend not a lot. Several activities at church Polish Night dinner today and pancake breakfast tomorrow. Always nice to see folks. Other than that probably reading and hoping we don’t get a lot of thunderstorms. Possibly researching cars to replace our 2007 Toyota. Need something a little higher to make it easier for my husband to get in and out. Hope you have a great weekend. And glad you are doing so well.

What charming goats. Love them. My brother has been telling me I need a couple goats to work on the overgrown grass in the yard. Our landlord is not diligent with moving the lawn. City will ticket him soon. Since I do live in town, unfortunately, goats aren’t an option. Darn.

Weekend plans? Haven’t decided between an audio book or a movie while I crochet. Maybe I will do one today, the other tomorrow. OR, I just may crawl back in bed. Dreary, rainy day. Bed with a book does sound nice too. Yep, I plan on a rather lazy weekend. You have a great weekend. Take care of you.

This weekend I am flying solo. Husband is at the hunting camp on a work weekend. So, I am going to get comfy and read. Granddaughter came for a visit this week but has gone home. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Not much planned. Not always happens anyway. I did get my porkchops cooked (with sauerkraut, onions, apples and br sugar on the stove) and got that cleaned up. Was hoping dr called with test results since they didn’t yesterday. Wanted to get plants for the garden, but for that I need to have the planets aligned to get a ride, so… I figure they will continue growing at the greenhouse instead of in my garden.

I’m taking it easy this weekend. I need a minute of downtime before the crazy days of summer hit.

I really didn’t have any plans for the weekend…I recently ordered new curtains for a few rooms so I may be washing windows & putting up those. Probably doing some laundry & I’ve been cleaning out some drawers & closets to put things aside to donate.

Finishing reading Tyson’s Mission, keeping an eye on a baby armadillo I found – to make sure nothing gets him and checking fence lines in the cow pasture.

Mostly my plans are just to keep going thru things at home to organize and get rid of as much as possible.
