Remember back in May when I told you I have 18 projects to get out the door by January 2d? The current list looks like this:

4 3 full-length novels (2 1 paranormal suspense, 2 BDSM)  — Shattered Souls, done!
3 1 novellas (1 Delta Heat, 1 Western, 1 TBD) — Delta Heat: Fournicopia, and Laying Down the Law done!
3 2 short stories — “Red Dawn”, done!
2 1 anthologies I have to edit — Smokin’ Hot Firemen done!
4 novels to extensively edit & expand (it’s a secret!)
1 novella to extensively edit and publish — Dragon’s Desire, edited! Publishing soon!
1 short story anthology to edit and publish — Licks, done!

Likely, I’ll be adding one more thing to the list. Cleis Press has given the green light to another anthology. This one filled with yummy Super Alpha males (think SEALs, Delta Force, SWAT, Smoke Jumpers, etc). I’ll be working on getting a “Call for Submissions” out the door early this week!

Also this week, I knuckle down to work on the next full-length novel. Send me good thoughts, wishes, vibes, prayers. I’m having a hard time starting. Have to push past the opening and get into the sexy middle. I’m sure it will come to me as soon as I get my hero and heroine horizontal. 🙂

Sunday Report Card/June Recap

The things swirling in my brain. You have no idea, but then again, if you’ve been following along, maybe you do.

June was Hell Month. Rather a nice place to be for a writer. So often we work with the HOPE of selling a story. Then along come the contracts, and suddenly, we have DEADLINES! I much prefer having them than not. However, I could have used longer lead times for the stories I have to spit out, one after the other.

I had hoped to complete three biggish projects in June. I managed to completely close on the most important one, am very nearly done with the second biggest priority, and am in spitting distance of wrapping up the third. So, I count June as a success!

* Shattered Souls, my first full-length novel for Montlake, went out the door on Thursday!

* I have the short stories for Smokin’ Hot Firemen selected (this is tentative, because Cleis has final approval), placed in a manuscript template, and I’ve started editing the stories. I hope to have them completed and ready to go by Tuesday. My own entry is 1/3 written, but I should finish tomorrow. Shorts are easy for me to zap through once I have the story in my head.

*  My next Western for Samhain is just a couple of chapters away from being done. I HAVE to finish by Wednesday or my name will be “mud” with my editor. So no pressure there. 🙂

Sunday Report Card

This was a much better week than last week. I’m finally thinking I might make my two major end-of-month deadlines, maybe three. I wrote a total of 62 pages on my paranormal for Montlake and my western for Samhain. And I read through 15 firemen stories. I got a little distracted this past couple of days because I wanted to rush thru the pages to play with my dominoes. The Red-Headed Hellion and I are making pendants from dominoes. You can see pics on Facebook. Anyway, they don’t have a thing to do with what I should be doing, but I needed a break—something creative that doesn’t have a thing to do with writing. This week, I hope to reach THE END of the paranormal, then I’ll have to revise, revise, revise! Did I ever mention how much I HATE revisions?

Dressed in a silk robe I’d found on a hook behind the bathroom door, I sat at the breakfast table with Tess. We waved through the window at the men as they climbed into Bob’s Beemer. The men smiled. Greg gave a waggle of his eyebrows, and then they were gone.

When my gaze returned to her, she smiled like the Cheshire cat. “This is nice,” she said peering at me over the rim of her tea cup. “Just us girls. How ever will we entertain ourselves?”

I bit the corner of my lip, a blush beginning to heat my cheeks because she looked like a movie star, and her robe had parted, revealing a deep, luscious décolletage. Sunday Report Card

Notice I left the SRC for the very last? That’s because this was not the productive week I’d hoped it would be. I did edits and edits—Fournicopia is done! Dragon’s Desire is done (except for the formatting). I’m still wrapping up the last read through of the galley for Cowboy Lust. I did add two strong chapters to my paranormal for Montlake, but I wanted four! Let’s hope this week rolls along without any family drama or publisher interruptions.

I began this surge on May 1st. I thought it was 12 projects which made me nervous enough, but it’s actually 18. Luckily enough, I’ve stuck to my plan. 4 projects are already complete.

I’m making progress at last on the paranormal novel for Montlake. Starting Monday, I’ll begin work on the next Western for Samhain. It won’t be part of the Lone Star Lovers series, will be longer, category length, I think, and not menage, but it will still be plenty sexy with a suspenseful damsel-in-distress plot with a small-town Texas sheriff that will keep you turning the pages. I’ll be reading through more Wild at Heart submissions, too. So if you see me playing around online, be stern with me. Tell my I better have my pages done for the day FIRST!

This week was pretty much full steam ahead. As I mentioned a week or so ago, I have to finish 12 projects I’ve committed to writing by January 2, 2013. Well, oops! There are really 14 projects!

In that list are:

4 full-length novels (2 paranormal suspense, 2 BDSM)
3 novellas (1 Delta Heat, 1 Lone Star Lover, 1 TBD)
3 short stories
2 anthologies I have to edit (Wild at Heart, Smokin’ Hot Firemen)
1 novel to extensively edit & expand (it’s a secret!)
1 novella to extensively edit and publish

Where am I now? On Monday, I finished the edits my editor asked for on the first short story and shipped it. Count one short story done! (Throws confetti!) And I am a little more than midway through the first novella.

This next week I hope to wrap that one up, get my notes for the first full-length novel complete, and work on that novel that has to be extensively expanded. Plus, come next Friday, I’ll be joining my sisters from the Diamond State Romance Authors in a 3-day writers’ retreat!

I need those pom-poms swishin’! Go, Delilah! Go, Delilah! Go! 🙂
