UPDATE: The winner is…Terra Oenning!
*~*~*

It’s a new year, and it’s time to try new things! Facebook has its issues, but most authors and readers “meet” there. Yes, I have a fan page—which I hate because it’s not somewhere I can interact easily. I have a “friends” page, but that cap of 5000 members becomes problematic when more people want to join me there. So, I bit the bullet and created a group, Delilah’s Corner, where I hope to have some fun and hope readers will enjoy being there, too!

My dd and I talked through this idea, and she did the graphic for the group. I wanted something “me”. Not a book cover. Although, I do want to talk books, occasionally. I’m a huge coffee drinker, and I love coffee shops, although my little podunk town doesn’t have a single one, so here I am inventing one to hang out in. Or at least, that was the idea—Delilah’s little corner cafe. I’m not big on pomp. Just pour your coffee and pull up a chair.

So, now that I have the group, what do I do with it? Right now, I have around 100 members who answered my call on Facebook to join. I’d like to grow the group. To do that, I need more readers, and authors, to join. Some of the things I want to do are launch parties for my and my friends’ books, group parties, and giveaways. Yada, yada. Everyone does that.

But I’d like some fresh ideas for things I can do on a daily, a weekly, or a monthly basis. For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, help me out with some ideas! And be sure to join the group. I promise we’ll be doing some fun things. Bring your mocha chai or cappuccino, or plain black cup (me, most of the time), and settle in. Ask a question. Start a conversation. See you there.

A weekly “tell us what you’re reading” post. I love groups like these and I always find new books/authors to read that way.

I just joined Delilah’s Corner since I am an avid coffee drinker and your coffee spot sounds delightful. I’m an author, but write books for YA and teen with no romance.
I like to interact with other writers and would love to learn more about how to build a following, book marketing and finding beta readers.

Well, if leading by example helps, I hope you’ll get something from the experience! Hopefully, as we grow the group, readers will meet you there and check out your stories!

Just joined Delilah’s Corner. Idea? Revisit older series and keep us updated on where to buy. (I’m still working through your supernaturals.) Thank you.

Hi Delilah! I’m here, I’m hangin’ at the Corner, and I’m always ready for coffee!

Ideas: What books you’re reading (cuz I’m curious that way). Host a discussion about the book industry from the reader’s perspective (that might be an eye opener). Which TV show from your childhood you’d like to bring back.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head. Have a great day!

Mechelle, “Tell us what you’re reading” would probably work well for Fridays. I’ll add that to the list!

JM, I can do that. I have about 200 stories in my backlist. I don’t want to inundate folks with book ads, but maybe if I do it once a week as part of a giveaway?

    Sheri! Ooh! Jotting those down.

Just sent request to join your group and new books with blurbs would be great. Im always looking for new authors to support and read. Also curious to see what your writing and give small gist to the upcoming stories and recipes or song play list that goes with your books. Information on your characters is always good if they have back story. Thank you for the opportunity and Can’t wait to be apart of your writing world and group

Love this idea!!! What you’re reading, crafts and art that you’re doing, sharing ideas from in progress works, even talking about past projects too. Sometimes its nice to revisit old favorites and readalongs are fun. Monthly events are great, little party type things.

I’m thinking telling us what you read. Any additional authors you like. I like the idea of launch parties for your books and other authors as well. I like random stuff too, your favorite coffee blend. A fun product you’ve found, what you’re having for dinner lol.

Oh I joined…. I didn’t see the call out on Facebook (stupid algorithms) but I’ll be there constantly…. As an international reader I like things that are not time based so that we can participate too (or it’s a 24hr time base) random stuff is great to see but so is regular stuff…. Like a weekly discussion topic, fortnightly or weekly recipe shares even daily topic posts can work (ever Monday is ask me a question or het to know each other day) all of it is doable and fun as long as you’re seen to be interacting witb the group not just the readers then it will be a hit

Facebook Live events are fun. Maybe chat with other authors? I sent a request to join and will visit when I can. My problem is that I’m in soo many groups it can sometimes be overwhelming and Facebook already consumes too much of my reading time. 🙂

I think a weekly mindfulness tip would be really helpful. Or something to manage stress, whatever tips that might be. Or crowdsource ideas and post one a week. Or something.

    Hi Delilah,
I love the idea of this. I’ve often heard from many Author’s that Characters “live” inside their brains and are just dying to get out. Have any of your Characters ever talked to you while doing ordinary things around the house, while out at a coffee shop? If so I think it would be fantastic to let your readers hear about those “interactions” from those characters. Especially if they were really strong alpha type.
Another author I read did this and it was hysterical and a huge hit. She has a huge series she writes so these characters are always around.

I’m a relatively new reader and now have several of your books – but introing some of your older books would be awesome. Trivia giveaways are always fun. Maybe have a “book of the week” – have a read/reread of one of your books (starting on Sunday or Monday) with a trivia question asked about it on Friday (24-48 hours to answer it) then choosing a winner. Facebook lives every week or every other week where you answer questions (could have an “ask Delilah” post each week and sometime that week do a live answering those questions) and tell us what’s coming up, etc.

I more frequently visit the author pages where there’s more interaction!

Hugs, Delilah! I do think have some weekly questions can help keep conversation going 🙂 As others have suggested, “what are you reading?”, maybe choosing a backlist title to highlight, sharing snippet of something you’re currently working on, having a question of the week that everyone can answer… Also, having occasional chances to chat with you about a past or upcoming release, having guest authors chat, and maybe sharing about your painting, jewelry making, etc… I guess a lot like you do here on the blog, but as posts on FB instead? Either way, thank you for making it a point to connect with us readers, Delilah!

I have a humongous list of things we can do on Delilah’s Corner. Thank you! We’ve already implemented a couple of things, although the recipe share kind of fell flat. Not sure what’s up with that.

The winner of the Amazon gift card is…Terra Oenning!
