Help me with my summer reading list! (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Carol Cox!
*~*~*

I don’t have a lot of time for reading. That is, reading for pleasure. I write, I edit-edit-edit other people’s books, but reading for pleasure? I have very limited time and usually reach for something I’ve already read that I KNOW I’ll enjoy.

However, I miss reading for pleasure, but I want to do so outside of my own genre. Maybe you can help. These are the kinds of books I’m considering reading. Give me a title in one of the genres you think I will love and you’ll be entered to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

  • A quirky, funny, cozy mystery
  • A small-town, funny romance
  • A Sci-Fi adventure with romance or not
  • A YA fantasy or paranormal story (no wolves or vampires)
  • A police drama/thriller with a really menacing villain

A quirky, funny, cozy mystery – The Ladies Room by Carolyn Brown (that’s as close as I get to cozy mysteries)

A small-town, funny romance – The Fuzzy Love series by Tara Lain (not exactly small-town but it’s in a tight-knit community and the characters show up in all the books)

A Sci-Fi adventure with romance or not – The Starfighter Training Academy series by Grace Goodwin

A YA fantasy or paranormal story (no wolves or vampires) – Strange The Dreamer (if you really want a rabbit hole then start with Daughter of Smoke and Bones and read all of the books in publish date order)

A police drama/thriller with a really menacing villain – Anything from Karen Rose (some of her books give me nightmares)

For the small-town, funny romance–anything by Erin Nicholas, although as Stacey suggests, Otterly Irresistible is the first in her newest series, and is a fantastic place to start

Sci-fi adventure–anything by Ann Aguirre. My daughter just finished the trilogy she cowrote with Rachel Caine. Or if you haven’t read it yet, I really loved her Dred Chronicles.

For the YA fantasy/paranormal–Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows might fit the bill? This duology and the followons are my daughter’s favorite books of all time 🙂

For the police drama/thriller–maybe Nalini Singh’s Quiet in Her Bones? Toni Anderson?

Hugs, and hope you find some new reads you love, Delilah!
