I never know whether to say “Happy” Veterans Day…
My father and brother retired from the Air Force. I served 14 years active duty, 7 in the Guard, and retired from the Army. My sister served in the Army and Air Force Reserves and retired. So, as a family, we’re a patriotic group. We gave years of our lives.
Here’s a shout-out to all veterans who served. I like these words: Serve, Service. They mean something still. I think more people ought to serve, whether it’s in the military, the Peace Corps, or serving their communities directly. It teaches you about responsibility and discipline. See the world. See how others live, and experience how they think. It’s a great education.
So, take a minute today and say thank you to those who gave something of themselves to their country. It’s old-fashioned, maybe, but it never gets old.

Thank you and your family for your service. In my family, my father, father in law, brother and 2 bothers in-law retired from the military. My husband was in the military and the went into the state police. I have another brother in law who served but did not retire. My daughter was in the Peace Corps where she met her honey

Thank you for your service! My family is the same way. I did 11 years in the Navy, my husband did 27. My son did 8 years as an Army medic. My oldest brother did 28 years in the Navy, his son is still serving and is a Navy Captain. Another brother did 4 years in the Army and then 25 as a police officer. His son did 6 years in the Air Force and just retired from the police force. My dad was a WW2 vet and was a paratrooper (Band of Brothers type – precursor to Special Forces).
