May into June (Contest)
Wednesday, May 31st, 2023

UPDATE: The winner is…Beverly!
*~*~*

Here’s my end-of-month reckoning. It keeps me honest about my accomplishments and tells you what I should be working on (to shame me into doing the work)!

May

Silver Soldiers Cold, Hard Cash

Work-related:

  1. I completed my short story for Silver Soldiers and finished editing the entire book. It was published on May 9th!
  2. I, along with the other Silver Soldiers authors, finished posting “Getting to Know” blogs on the Collections website to get readers ready for the release of the book. Then we posted fun “In One Picture” posts to celebrate and “hook” readers to get their copies of the book that released on May 9th!
  3. I finished writing Cold Hard Cash and published it on May 23rd! Woot!
  4. I completed only 3 editing projects for other authors in May.

Health-related:

  1. I blew the diet—all month long. May was about LaLa’s graduation, and we had small celebrations, visitors from out of town, etc. I am afraid to step on the scale!
  2. The pool finally got just warm enough that I began swimming a week ago. What are few goosebumps when you can do your favorite exercise activity?!

Happiness-related:

  1. Again, the month was about LaLa’s graduation, which occurred on the 20th. After that, it was about the other kid’s award ceremonies, etc.
  2. I am still participating in the #the100dayproject online art challenge. As of today, I’m on Day 96. Here are a few of my May pieces…

June

Jackson

For work-related, I plan:

  1. To revise and publish a story I published through Harlequin many moons ago…Warrior’s Touch.
  2. To publish a collection of first of series books in one volume.
  3. To begin writing Jackson, the next in my Montana Bounty Hunters: Dead Horse, MT series which releases on July 11th!
  4. To complete 4 editing projects in May!

For health related, I plan:

  1. To resume counting those points for my Weight Watchers diet and hopefully shed at least 5 pounds, remembering, as always: Slow is good!
  2. To continue to reduce salt, processed food, and incorporate foods good for blood pressure (spinach, broccoli, bananas, red wine).
  3. To swim at least once a day!
  4. To begin walking and counting my steps.
  5. I’ll make myself do more housework, too, because my art room is a disaster (although it’s getting better slowly). And cleaning is exercise, ahem.

For happiness-related, I plan:

  1. To spend quality time with the family—movie nights, swim-time, making fun meals together!
  2. To complete #the100dayproject, and then work on “finishing” the art I produced (varnish, fixative, wrapping or framing).
  3. To re-open my Etsy store! I now have enough art to do so!

I’m loving your artwork in your 100 day projects. These above ones are a few of my favorites. Love the multi colored flowers especially. It’s easy to get off tract when you’ve got something exciting going in & celebrations. But you’ll get back to it. Our weather has warmed up some over the past weekend and I’m hoping it stays around…then maybe I can get into the pool to do some swimming.

You have accomplished much more than I have. I consider it an accomplishment when I manage to make myself go somewhere. I have become a house hermit and just don’t feel like going anywhere most of the time. A lot of it is because of medical issues that make it hard to move and I am just more comfortable at home.

You are far more ambitious than I am. June is my birthday month. I’ll be celebrating June 9th. My sister wants to have me for dinner before or sometime after the date. My son is going to bring me a birthday supper of Chinese food, the only time I eat it, and my very specifically ordered birthday cake on the day. I’ve asked his best friend his girlfriend and her son to help me celebrate. I have already ordered my flowers to be delivered for the occasion. The next day I plan to have lunch with a friend and go Thrifting aka Treasure Shopping with her.

I’m also reading a lot. Both for pleasure and business. I have read 158 books so far. I have reached my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal of 150 books. Now I am aiming to read a total of 365 so I can say I have read a book a day.

I also read submissions for a publishing company and I beta read for authors. I am really enjoying do that.

Other than those thing I am just enjoying life as it comes.

Loving the artwork, especially the goat. Yes, housework is exercise but that does not mean I have to like it. I’m busy knitting, it’s now winter here.

Love your art, Delilah! Thanks for always giving us peeks! As for what I want to read next month, I don’t have a lot nailed down yet… but my TBR is HUGE, so I don’t imagine I won’t have enough choices, LOL!

I love the artwork. I never did a water color painting other than fast drybrush sketches of a moving model in HS. I want to learn. I have done acrylic and oil, but I have an idea in mind to do. I also want to turn bricks into novel covers to sprinkle in my yard. I want to get back to writing MY series. All in good time.

Thanks for all the love for my artwork! And thanks for sharing what’s happening with you. Cindy, that idea of turning bricks into book covers in your yard?! Love it!
