Well, it happened sooner than I’d hoped.
This past week, I swam once. Then the rains came, day after day. We experienced very cloudy days, nights that slipped into the 60s, and days that didn’t climb out of the upper 70s. Yesterday, I checked the pool temperature, and it was 81 degrees. For me, that’s a temperature I call “gasp-worthy.” I checked the forecast for the next ten days, and we have several days that will climb into the upper 80s. However, if you own a pool, you know that warming it up takes longer than cooling it down. I might try to swim on one or two of those hotter days, picking the hottest point of the day to get into the pool, however uncomfortable it may be. But “Swim Season” is basically over, which makes me very, very sad.

Wow. If I had a pool that was 81 I would be in it all the time. I also would get in if it was in the 70’s.

Light weights do so many reps – rest for 10 and repeat. An elliptical for under desk, helps keep blood circulating while working. I have the small bicycle one too but prefer elliptical. It’s small doesn’t weigh much and can be put anywhere you sit. So you can even do it while watching TV or reading, eating whatever and you set your own pace. Other thing I do is vacuum 1 room then because of POTS I have to rest up to 30 minutes and then I tackle another room.- figure moving is moving so it has to count.

There are many exercises that can be done from your chair, to include yoga. There are also some that can be done on your bed. (I don’t know about you, but I can’t get off the floor anymore, so bed is awesome. Or maybe reclined in your chair.) There are also Tia Chi in a chair. Low impact, but keeps one moving.

I wish it was cooler where I live… we are still roasting in the 100s.

I see a lot of chair exercises online. Maybe try them.

I need much warmer water when I want to swim. My grandkids jump right in & say it’s warm, come on in. I get wet a little at a time. Maybe you can do just small inside walks a few times a day….nothing too much strenuous.

I am having to build up my strength and stamina due to cardiac issues my cardiologist said he didn’t care what did as long as I move. I started small instead of going to the closest bathroom when I need to go, I go to the bathroom farthest from where I am at. I also take the long way to the kitchen when I want a snack or a drink. I have an island, so I make a couple of loops around it to get extra steps. It does make a difference, start slow, and stretch regularly. You will see a difference.
