I’m not feeling very clever today. My brain’s muzzy, my eyesight’s blurry… I’ve had the flu for the past few days—a real kicker since I had the flu shot this year. Then again, I’m really glad mine wasn’t as bad as my dd’s and she didn’t have the shot…
It’s amazing how much crap can pile up in your inbox or how far behind schedule you can fall in such a short time. I’m supposed to be doing NaNoWriMo this month, but have barely written a 1000 words. I have a ton of catch-up to do there. I set things on my desk until I deal with them, and right now, my stack’s so high it’s almost interfering with my view of the computer screen. And let’s not talk about housekeeping. Ugh. I think I need one more day in bed before I tackle everything.
So what’s your best recovery advice? And you can make ridiculous statements here to make me smile. All advice welcome!
Chicken soup works wonders–helps if someone else brings it to you, and extra points if the someone is nice to look at. I swear by tea with honey and whiskey, although my science-minded friends tell me it suppresses the immune system.
Do not read Joey W. Hill while recovering from the flu, or you’ll cry and since your head’s already full of gunk, that won’t be pretty.
Goodness me, poor you. In terms of work recovery, when you get back into things tomorrow, try alternating easy tasks and unappealing tasks (with no more than half an hour on any one thing) because then you’ll have more mental relaxation of getting the grim things “off your shoulders” while having bashed off a lot of the easy things too.
For physical recovery, I recommend tomato soup with cheese on toast, and a couple of hours spent watching re-runs of the first series of arrow, which has a marvellously high proportion of shirtless scenes. Ahem. No really, I watch for the plot…
Please take care of You! The other stuff can wait. That’s the best advice I can give you. And… hugs from a distance.
My mother swears by tea with honey and a shot of brandy. She’s ridiculously healthy, so you may want to just add that to your daily routine.
Personally, I lay in bed and watch Springer. It makes me feel better about my life.
All of your suggestions are great! Especially love the bit about Springer. It does take looking at train wrecks to realize life’s not bad…
Chicken soup and hot tea. (and Theraflu-the drink mix kind)
Oh- and send the kids to grandma’s and the hubby anywhere but home!
Feel Better Soon! 🙂
Hot tea with honey and whisky, lots of whisky. You my still be sick, but who cares. LOL.
I would recommend staying in bed and reading something sexy… or look at sexy stuff. Eye candy always makes me feel better 😉
Other than that, lots of liquids and eat what you feel like.
HUGS and speedy recovery!
I certainly agree with Chicken Soup and tea with honey. I also drink oj with ginger ale.
thanks for the great suggestions. I sipped on chicken bouillon, ate plain white rice and drank tons of sweet tea. I feel 100% better! Loved the fun and sexy suggestions too! You made me smile. 🙂
