Readers and Authors: What do you want to see next? (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Kimberley Bailey!
*~*~*

I love working on anthologies: crafting the call for authors’ submissions, reading their entries, selecting the stories that “fit” best together, editing them, and then, seeing them go out into the world for readers to enjoy. Getting to know authors—some old friends accepting a fun challenge, newbies who are excited about their first publication—is hugely rewarding for me.

So far, these are the books in the Boys Behaving Badly series. I want to continue with this overarching theme, because it’s fun! And for readers, it’s a great deal! All of the books are stuffed full of sexy short stories and only $0.99 per download! So, they’re not a huge moneymaker, but that’s not the goal here. We, the authors, want to be read!

Rogues Blue Collar
Pirates Stranded

So, now that my latest, Stranded, is out in the world, I’m ready to start thinking about what’s next…

I could use your help.

I have one idea that a friend and reader, Fedora, gave me for “First Response”, which would be about cops, EMTs, firefighters, Flight for Life folks, Coast Guard teams, etc. I think there’s plenty of good stories authors could have fun with there. Thinking about it, I can imagine what a first responder in a galactic rescue might look like, or men passing buckets during a fire in the 1800s, so the theme doesn’t have to limit the genre.

But I would like to consider other options as well. So, my challenge to you is help me find my next anthology theme. If you have a new idea, great! If you want to approve Fedora’s “First Response” idea, that’s great, too!

And authors, if there’s a theme you’d love to write a short story for, offer up the idea! Let’s have some fun!

What I want to see next are books in the Montana Bounty Hunters series. I think the titles were to be Big Sky Wedding #8 that was scheduled for April release & Quincy #9 that was to release in May. What’s the update on release dates for these 2 books?

It is very disappointing when an author doesn’t respond to comments on their facebook pages, or pm or emails. I understand that you have a personal life & that there are delays but it is important to let your readers know when releases are going to happen. Thank you

I do like the idea of First Responders. I was married to one. He is now retired. The other day I thought it would be neat to do something on jobs no one ever considers, like tow truck drivers. You can call it the blue color special

Delilah, I love the idea of a first responders anthology. I also like the idea of motorcycle club anthology, a cowboy anthology and a ménage anthology.

I agree, first responders lends itself to so many ideas.

I like the idea of authors/writers too. Across time and novels, newspapers, travel brochures ……..

One random thought–what about artists and their work, whether it’s a poem, story, book, painting, ice/stone/sand/other sculpture, origami…?

I was reading the post in my email and first thought was .. what about first responders? Then I read further about Fedora making the suggestion LOL talk about a sign that you should go with that 🙂
Another idea would be single dads. Or what about male authors writing in the romance genre… more and more are popping up lately.

Picked up STRANDED from Elle yesterday at RTF 😉 YAY

I seem to be in the minority. First responders doesn’t do it for me. Overdone, in my eyes. I do very much like @flchen1’s idea about artists, though.

Sheryl! I’ve updated my Upcoming/Coming Soon page so you can see my revised publication schedule.

Fedora! I’ll add artists to my list of possibles.

Looks like overall “First Response” will work well…

I know it’s probably way too early, but do you have an idea when you’ll be posting the submissions guidelines and all for your next anthology?

Kimberly Bailey! I hope to post it next month. The theme will be “First Response”, as in first responder stories. Could be EMTs, firefighters, cops, Coast Guardsmen, even National Guards, doctors who pass an accident, whatever. And don’t forget, there could be paranormal first responders, galactical first responders, etc. Have fun with the theme!
