Early in the week, my pee suddenly became a bright orange-pink. Bet you haven’t read something like that as an opener on another writer’s blog, right? Anyways, I sent a urine sample via my dd to my general practitioner, and they put me on antibiotics for another UTI. So far, so good. I’m peeing yellow again. For someone who hadn’t had a UTI in years, having two in as many months is a PITA. I’ve read that’s not uncommon after a radical hysterectomy, though, so I’m not overly concerned.
School ended for the kids this past Wednesday! Woot. We celebrated with takeout and a movie. We watched A Minecraft Movie, and I guess we were in the mood for a silly one, because we all laughed ourselves silly. The 16-year-old provided a critique of how well the movie matched the actual game (she’s a gamer, and Minecraft is one she loves). If you like a childish, zany adventure movie, this one’s for you. It’s a one-timer for me, but we bought it because the 11-year-old will be watching it over and over this summer, no doubt. She already knows the songs Jack Black sang.
I’ve been busy trying to get back my stamina to complete the work I have in front of me. Editing has been going well. My personal space needs some work—straightening, cleaning. While my family pitches in, I like things to be kept in a certain order, so I’ve been trying to give myself little tasks every day to set things right.
In early April, I had my Christmas cacti placed outside on my back porch. It gets morning sunshine only, so not too much for indoor plants. Both plants surprised me with another blooming. Not as many as in late fall, but lovely just the same. The red plant buds are very sparse, but the white is giving more blooms. The picture I’m using for today’s puzzle is one of the white cactus. Have fun!

Pool in our apartment complex opened today but still a little cool for me. Choir is starting to take summer off end of June. Catching up on reading and looking for a new used car that is easier for my husband to get in and out of. Other than that hope to be a quiet summer.

The weather has finally cleared up after a week of rain. I’m sure everyone is out and about enjoying the weather so I’ll stay home and out of the crowds.

Random, hmmm . . . My landlord is not very diligent with routine maintenance, like keeping the lawn moved. It is starting to look like a hay field. The random incident was when a former lawn service owner knock on my door looking to drum up business. He did my yard at a previous residence a few years ago. He recognized me, called my by name and we caught up with what had been happening in our lives. I couldn’t immediately hire him because I don’t control the lawn service here, but I did pass on his info. It would appear I am now a part of the local VFW’s honor guard. I didn’t actively seek the position, but I am finding myself called to participate regularly. I am honored to be included.

19 yr old decided he deserved a 2nd arm tattoo. Middle son is sleeping, I’ve been reading and spouse is reloading so he can go to range later. Nothing really other than we may be in for more rough weather over next 5 days. I don’t know what I want to do this weekend, I have a list but I really just want to read and escape. I am through adulting for a bit- time to go back to being toys-r-us kid! 👧

The flowery bushes seemed to have all dropped their blooms, so everything is just Very Green! Especially since it’s been a rainy week and very cool (even cold overnight). Chilly start for the summer season.

I am reading and waiting for it to rain again. As my grandmother would say we had a frog strangler last night. There saying more is on the way. Thunderstorms with high wind. So, we are staying close to home.

Weather has been brutally cold here. Mornings are 38-45 and some days it barely hits 50-55 in the afternoon. Lotsof rain, too, but we’ll be thankful for that later in the season. My garden is 95% in. I just have a few things to finish putting in.

DD is helping me clean out the guest room in anticipation of friends visiting this week. Found a bunch of things we’re trying to rehome with people who will enjoy them more. Took a walk around the neighborhood and ran into some friends walking their dog, LOL.

Well we finally started getting rain. My pond had almost dried all the way up and the herons, Eagles, Hawks and other birds were eating the fish and frogs. Buzzards were eating what they left behind. All kinds of wildlife are coming right up to the house looking for food and water. I found a baby armadillo so I’ve been taking care of him. Hatched some baby chicks. Also the other day lightening caught the woods on fire and we had 4 fires out here – one was on the ranch so we had to get all the cows in one pin and let the firemen in to cut lines to get it out, then when we left there and was headed out to eat, the other ranch had a fire also. Got all them cows put up. Then the next day one of the fires started back up and we had to show them what field they could land the helicopter in(that didn’t have cows in it) and open the gate so they could get in and fuel it. Last night lightening hit our neighbors transformer and everyone except us and three other people lost power. It has been exciting around here.
