It’s Read a Book Day! Let’s Play a Game! (Contest)
Wednesday, September 6th, 2023

UPDATE: The winner is…Rachel Blackburn!
*~*~*

It’s READ A BOOK DAY! Our Day, right?

A girl can hope you’ll pick up one of her books to celebrate. I’ll have a new one out this time next week, so my feelings won’t be hurt if you choose another book to celebrate this holiday!

For fun, and for a prize, how about we play a game?

First, you’re going to learn a new word — Bibliomancy! It means divination by book. Many of you have practiced it—most likely with the Bible. You know, get a book, close your eyes, flip open the pages, and point your finger, without looking, at the page. Whatever your finger lands on will have some meaning for you.

So, go ahead. Whatever book you are reading right now, close your eyes, point that finger, and tell me what your sentence is. Do you know its meaning for you? It can take some time for the meaning to reveal itself, so no cheating! No pointing your finger and choosing another!

Share your result in the comments for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

There was no time. Could mean I need to quit procrastinating.

I can’t sail to the other side of the lake from here. (Praying For Sleep by Jeffery Deaver)

This is so weird. If you think about it, it means that you need to find a different path or route. If I apply it to my life, it actually makes perfect sense. There have been situations arise lately that I need to reconfigure and really look at to find a different way to get where I want to go!

    “I haven’t been there before.”

I need to travel more I’d say.

To understand why this might be so for high-reactives, it helps to look at what happens in the brain when we greet a stranger at a cocktail party.

This is from the book Quiet (The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking) by Susan Cain. What it means to me is that there are a group of people who will react differently than what is considered “normal” because they are high-reactive.

I’m not sure how I can do this with an eBook or an audiobook. It’s been many years since I’ve read a physical book.

Every day is Read a Book day for me. 😘

‘And look at us now’. As my job at the Bank I have worked at for 42 years changed this weekend due to the Bank being bought by another Bank, I think this sentence is about my old team having new jobs as of yesterday and all of us having to adjust to the new. So far the new job is going great.

” I really hope I live the rest of my life without an encore. ”

    No repeats of bad things?
