Happy Groundhog Day! (Contest)
Friday, February 2nd, 2024

UPDATE: The winner is…BN!
*~*~*

There you have it! Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow! So, that means we can look forward to an early spring! Let’s not worry about the pesky statistics that NOAA published saying our famous rodent is only accurate 40% of the time. I’m sure, this time, he’s got it right!

So, I feel the need to carve some time out of my day to watch one of my favorite movies, Groundhog Day! I’m sure you’ve seen, right? A grumpy, self-absorbed, rude man gets a chance to relive Groundhog Day over and over until he manages to remake himself into a decent human being and win the girl.

Since you understand the concept, let’s have some fun here.

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, tell me about a day you would love to live over and over again to get everything right. Let’s not dwell on sad things. Think of a happy or funny event that you think could have been better with just a few tweaks, a do-over day. Share your “Groundhog Day” in the comments below for a chance to win!

I can’t watch Groundhog day – it makes me anxious. I thought about some days with my parents – I’d love to visit with them again, but to ask them about things I’ve wondered about, not to do things exactly as before.

I would like to live a day from my childhood! Only, I don’t know what one… those lazy summer days of clothesline fort/tents, walking along the creek, playing on the witches hat at the local park (it wasn’t fun until someone was injured or puking) and drinking from the water hose kind of days 🙂 I can still remember the taste of the water now!

not necessarily a do over to get right, but I would love a day where I could spend time with my grandma again.

I would like to relive my wedding day. We had an uninvited guest show up that I would love to kick to the curb. She even had the audacity to eat food at the reception! I would love to visit with everyone again in that kind of fun and laid back setting. Plus my grandmother was still alive so I’d love to sit and talk with her.

I’d like a do-over for my last day of High School. So much I’d like to say and do that I never had the chance to.

Days I wouldn’t mind having a chance to revisit are my wedding day, my daughter’s wedding day, our 25th anniversary party, the baby shower for my daughter & son in law, both daughters graduation parties…both high school & college…. They were such busy days & I’d love the chance to spend more time chatting with everyone I might have missed at the original times. The laughing, dancing, smiling & fun we all had was wonderful. Plus all those that aren’t with us anymore I’d have the chance to have fun with again.

It would be fun to redo our wedding day or our friends’–it felt so hectic at the time, it would be fun to have a do-over with a better understanding of putting less emphasis on the details and simply enjoying the day and the festivities.

I’d like to think I’ve had more good days in my life than sad ones. There is no day I want to repeat over and over again, but there are a few I’d like to relive. Easter Sunday, 1976 is one. I was in NYC with my BFF at the time and went to see the Tony Awards. We didn’t have tickets to actually see the show, but hung out in Shubert Alley as people arrived. It was so hot (record book says 96, but an outdoor thermometer said 101), the asphalt was soft! We spent the day doing ‘our things’, then got pizza and an Orange Julius and went back to my room to watch the awards on TV. My friend went to his room, but I started thinking. I am in NYC and just down 7th Avenue were all these people. I called to see if he wanted to join me in going back down there, but he declined. I went myself. That night I saw/got autographs from/and or talked to: Celeste Holmes, Cloris Leachman Marvin Hamilsch, Donna McKechnie, Kelly Bishop, and the cast of Pacific Overtures. But the highlight of that day was seeing and talking to Diana Rigg with no one else around to bother us.

I would go back to the day we met with my hubby’s oncology surgeon and convince him to pick option 2. He would still be alive today.
