*~*~*

I know, I know. Lately, I’m seem to be obsessed with food. My fun holiday list isn’t helping at all. Today is Sticky Bun Day! So, in honor of the occasion, I quickly listed ten breakfast pastries I could think of off the top of my head.

Exercise that gray matter and enjoy the puzzle! Then, for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, add to the list OR tell me your favorites! For me, it’s kolaches and danishes!

Oh! Now I am hungry for a bearclaw or an apple fritter, although the eclair is my favorite.

I worked in several different bakeries over time. Mostly fried and finished donuts, but worked as a baker and a baker’s assistant. Made donuts, pizza (for a school), pies, iced basic cakes, made bear claws… I shopped in bakeries, too. But 2 of the most beautiful items were pearl donuts (I made) and filled croissants (only bought). The bakery I worked in made all icings from scratch. White buttercream had a touch of blue in it to make it whiter. (NOTE: think olden days when women added bluing blocks to whiten their clothes). We took raised donuts without holes, cut them in half like a clam shell and piped in so much buttercream it wouldn’t close. Then put in 1 whole cherry from pie filling and dusted the tops with powder sugar. They were popular. The filled croissant was 8 to 10 inches long, also cut in half. They were filled with either white or choc buttercream and cherry pie filling. Tops were drizzled with chocolate and dusted with powder sugar. I can still taste them!

Paczki, olliebollen, churros, and cruller, are ones from other countries that I’ve tried.

I worked in a Bakery so many donuts I helped make. Apple & cherry fritters, longjohns, claims, bear claw, twists cinnamon & glazed, cake flavored, and plain, and yeast donuts, sour cream, lost track.

Well…now I’m feeling a trip to a bakery is in order. Love cinnamon buns & maybe apple cinnamon muffins or banana muffins for a breakfast treat. Eclairs & lafayettes are baked goods I’ll have for dessert or my evening snack.
