Word Search: Favorite Pets (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Joy Boutwell!
*~*~*

The Devlin household has numerous pets. Too many. Currently, we have seven dogs (did I count right?), four cats, and a bunny. The picture I’m sharing is of MY cat. She hangs out with me, loves her cat bed under my desk, and is a generally noisy nuisance. Tessa has the most god-awful meow of any cat I’ve ever had. It’s a scratchy, yowling sort of meow that grates on a person’s nerves, but she’s MY cat. Usually, when she’s looking at me, her gold eyes are perfectly round, which makes her look really stupid. Here, I woke her from a nap, so she’s irritated with me. If she were a tiger, she’d eat me.

Yes, the topic for the word search today is lame, but I didn’t want to break my brain trying to come up with something clever, so for the sake of a good brain-matter workout, here’s today’s challenge:

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, tell me about a favorite pet of yours, past or present, and have you had any exotic ones? I’ve had everything on the list below except for a lizard and a snake (feeding them mice or crickets was a big NO).

Oh my! All my pets have been favorites at the time. Even Elmer. He was a little ankle biter. Sweet, most of the time, though skittish as a small dog can be. But the most frustrating thing about him was a protective streak. I was a budding 16 years old. Wanting to meet guys and flirt. Walking the dog seemed like a good excuse to make that happen. Wrong! Elmer would not let anyone with a “Y” chromosome so much as talk to me. My parents thought it was great. Me? Not so much. But he was a cuddler and, as with most dogs, full of unconditional love. Probably my most interesting dog.

When I was a kid, I really liked my baby turtles, but my mom didn’t like the smell. She hated the hermit crabs even more. However, we always had tons of cats and, later, dogs. Fish were something I enjoyed when I was an adult living on my own. I liked hunting snakes to bring home to show off but wasn’t great at discerning poisonous from non, and my dad put a quick end to those adventures when I brought home baby rattlers.

My favorite pet was my parrot Oscar… he was a wonderful best friend growing up… he would play peek a boo, give me kisses and guard my room from unwanted guests…

I have had a few pets and loved them all. I had a chihuahua named Dolly, a beagle named Scout, and right now I have another Beagle named Rowdy. I also had a rabbit named Henry, I named her before we realized that she was a girl.

We mainly had allergies so no furry friends. We did have a few fish, and for a short while, a crayfish. He mysteriously disappeared one night; we suspected the neighborhood cat…

I just lost my Sherlock, a Silky Terrier that I had for 7 years. He was 10 and unfortunately developed heart issues. He was a shelter rescue and due to no teeth, his tongue hung out. People always asked me why his tongue was out and when I explained they would always try it with their mouths to see if that was true. Lol.

I have had everything on the list at one time. I had a milk snake but it escaped. I liked my lung fish the best. They knew me and would come to me.

In my many years weve had many different kinds of animals. Rabbits, chicken, turkey, eastern painted turtle,
Many different types of birds, fish, and cats and dogs. Boxers and Maine coon cats are my favorite.

Merlin my last Maine Coon cat , and Baily my last boxer. I miss the most.
