Happy World Storytelling Day! (Contest)
Wednesday, March 20th, 2024

UPDATE: The winner is…Cindy Hunt!
*~*~*

It’s another obscure holiday today! One we can all love, right? It’s actually celebrating oral storytelling. However, we can bend the rules a bit here!

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, take a look at the photo and tell me a story. Your story doesn’t have to be complete, or long, or even any good. Just look at the picture and wing it! Have fun!

As she reads of far away places she wonders at what the world has to offer her other than the life of slavery and obedience. She dreams of exotic lands filled with flowers and fruits. Of finding someone who will love her and take her away from here. To sail on the seas of vast openedness, to feel the breeze on her face. To taste foods and drinks that she’s never seen or heard of before. Oh but where would she go first. America, Europe, or just pick a place on the map. To dream is all she can do for now.

In search of a quiet place to concentrate on her book, she found the perfect spot. Surrounded by beauty, it was a place she could let her imagination and the story take her to a different place.

They are all gone now. Only she and one other are left. Both parents and two siblings, gone. She sits here in this peaceful place of budding new life and remembers those that came before. Life has been good, but she does miss them.

She is reading a book that she should not have. But the nature around her will protect her if they come.

She was at the annual flower celebration in her town but she knew she would rather be in the meadow reading alone.

Sneaking away to read, because no is supposed to know she can read. It’s not allowed, and women can read or write. A quiet getting so no one knows.

Seeking some personal time away from the life she endures, the woman sits in a small secluded clearing deep in the forest amid trees, nature and flowers to immerse herself in the wonders and escape the book provides to her.

She’s sitting in the field looking through her book of spells, debating which one to use for her meditating. While she enjoys the nature around her.

He stared at her through the trees. How she was able to sit so still and quite was a task he didn’t understand but he was captivated by her beauty as the sun glistened in her hair. Today was the day he asked her, today she took her rightful place as his fae queen.

Thanks so much to everyone for playing! I loved reading your answers! Mostly, you loved the solitude and the fact she was engrossed in a book, and wouldn’t that be a lovely setting to spend a day doing just that—minus the bugs and snakes… 🙂

The winner, chosen by a random number generator, is…Cindy Hunt!
