Word Search: Colors of Paint (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Kerry Jo!
*~*~*

Sometimes, I struggle for themes for puzzles. Today, I didn’t have to look far for an idea. I have three bottles of ink sitting on my desktop with the most interesting color names: Chicken Coop (which is a rusty color), Robin’s Egg (the teal blue), and Parrotfish Twinkle (the green). I experimented with those three inks last night to produce the bookmark above.

I had those ridiculously named colors then opened a palette I put together myself with some of my favorite Daniel Smith watercolors (all D.S., except for the ochre and the pale green) to come up with the rest of the colors for the puzzle. They’re ones I’ve been using the most often lately.

So, for the contest… For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, solve the puzzle, then tell me what fancy-named colors you love. (Okay, so I don’t care if it’s a fancy name or not.)

My color pallet is in yarn. I am currently working with Peacock variegated. A lovely variety of peacock colors that make up beautifully. I now have a new favorite sweater of that color. Another color I recently used was Joshua Tree. An interesting yellow green. I found it surprisingly beautiful. Neon stripes and Wildflower a couple more favorites. Just the colors can inspire creativity.

When I was employed at McCrory’s 5 and 10 (northern partner to TGY in the south) one of my departments was sewing supplies and yarn. One of my favorite color threads was Peacock Blue. I also like Colbalt Blue oil color paint.

Most of my paints are Windsor Newton with not unusual names: Prussian blue, ultramarine, Paynes gray, Burnt umber,

    Peacock green, shamrock,

My favorites are the names that companies make up for paints. My daughter works in the paint depth at home depot, and the names, there, and ones brought to her from other places to make are really interesting. I will ask her and let you know some of them.

I have a Woodland Grey as a trim outside my home. In the right light it is a silvery green. The name makes me think of woodland elves.

I painted a few accent walls Razzle Dazzle Raspberry. From you list I’d go for PrussianBlue or RobinsEgg

Gotta admit that it cracks me up that there’s a color called Chicken Coop! While I do love a lot of the blues, I think our walls are much less colorful!
