Deja Vu

How many times do you see something, meet someone, witness an event you feel you’ve done this before? Maybe you have in another life. Maybe you’ve seen or witnessed something similar. I find myself thinking of quotes from favorite poems, lines from movies or pictures from movies or stories or mental images of  past experiences recurring in much of what I do or where I go.

While in Paris the week before last, touring Notre Dame Cathedral, I was Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame, crying out Sanctuary! At the Louvre, I was Molly Brown when she went to Europe studying all the paintings to get cultured Walking the streets of Paris I saw a vendor selling pink cotton candy and I was back in the pages of DEJA VOODOO with Molly B Boyette at the festival buying pink cotton candy. So much of our experiences in literature or movies repeats itself or has a close match and it’s fun to reference those times. It’s like coming home. I’m including (just because) some pictures from my trip to Paris. Notre Dame Cathedral, a photo of the Mona Lisa which doesn’t begin to describe how beautiful she is in person and a picture of the Sacre Coeur chapel on the only hill in Paris.

A little magic goes a long way…

Alexandra Belle Boyette is closing in on the big 3-0 and her mama has made it her mission to marry her off. In the tiny parish of Bayou Miste, deep in the Louisiana swamps, finding suitable hubby material can be a challenge—and Alex would rather not rely on magical spells to do the trick. But there is a sexy new man in town who might fit the bill…

Ed Marceaux is in Bayou Miste to safeguard a key witness to a Louisiana Mafia murder. He must keep an eye out for suspicious characters—but the place seems to be full of them! What could be stranger than a woman dressed in a sexy nightgown chasing a naked man down the street? The enchantingly gorgeous Alex Boyette certainly makes it worth his while to find out…

Add a Voodoo spell gone wrong, and voila! madness—and love—ensues.

When I met my husband and spoke to him, I knew he was the one I had seen in my dreams years before. He told me he had dreamed about me two weeks before we met and had a choice, me or another girl. With me he could be somebody – with other not. We met and dated 2 1/2 months. Sunday we celebrated 34 years together. I had even dreamed of the house I was living in then but not at time of dream.

I got a feeling of deja vu looking at your photos of the Sacre-Coeur. I’ve taken pretty much the same photo, and many others besides. LOVE that place!

I get the deja vu feeling sometimes…everyday things. I wonder sometimes if it is deja vu or just memory lapse. Lol

When I was younger I experienced the feeling when I went to a new restaurant opening – The decor and food seemed so familar.

I get that deja vu feeling every once in a while when I go into a new place or event that I have been there or done that before. I can picture these things so clearly and sometimes feel like I know what is going to happen next that it can be a little disturbing to say the least.

Enjoy your wonderful books…keep up the great work!

My experience involves a book. My parents and I were staying at the Diplomat Motel in Washington, D.C. (since torn down). My mother and I were walking down a corridor and felt like we had been there before. It seemed so familiar – even the laundry. When we got home, we looked at Margaret Sutton’s Whispered Watchword and saw that the Eagle Motel’s description matched what we saw.

I had the opportunity to ask Mrs. Sutton about the motel in the book and she had based it on the Diplomat. So fictional works do cause you to have Deja Vu also. rblerner@ptd.net

I have experienced instances of Deja vu, but cannot remember a specific one at this moment. I don’t usually share them when they happen, just note to myself that, “hey, I know this.” Thank you for sharing your experience and offering this wonderful contest. Congratulations on your new release. I will look forward reading it.

It was the summer of 1989, two years out of high school, and two years into my college training in Pre-med. I was stopped at a red light, when this strong, eerie tingle and uneasy feeling that I had been there and done this before came over me. I had experienced this feeling for a few minutes before this, and it kept getting stronger, but I brushed it off at first. For some reason, not even a few seconds after I came to a stop in front of the red light, my brain screamed at me to floor the accelerator, and run the light. By the time I registered this thought and intense emotion, it was too late. I was slammed into from behind by a drunk driver going 65 mph and pushed all the way under the stop light. The driver was driving a rental car, and even though barely any damage was done to the rental or him, he had pushed my trunk into the back seat (back seat passenger flew to the floor), and wretched my car sideways, so that only the back driver’s side passenger door would open. To make a long story short, I was severely injured, and had to drop out of Pre-med. This is not the first time Deja Vu has happened to me, it happens quite often. I have just learned to recognize the signs earlier now and be more open to my emphatic feelings and emotions. I now use them to help the living understand their problems and teach them how to help themselves solve them, and I also am an Independent Paranormal Investigator, using my gifts as an empath to communicate with paranormal entities.

I often have that feeling of deja vu, but nothing ever comes of it. Generally it just makes me feel weird and even adds to my dizziness (from balance problems and medication side effects).

I often have ‘deja vu’ experiences when I’m talking to someone. Suddenly I get a chill and know the next few lines in the conversation, both mine and the other party. Like we’ve done it before.

Love the title Deja Voodoo ~ very creative! Best of luck with sales!

I have had a few of those deja vu times. Sometimes it just feels like a dream that came true.
I took a walk about a year or two ago and I had to pause. When I looked out over the water it was like I had seen it before. The same boat in the same place and the high tide. I felt like I was in a dream. At the time it felt strange.

I’ve experienced the Deja Vu feeling a lot in my past. It’s usually a place I go into and that feeling is so strong that I’ve been here before or saw someone who felt familiar to me after one meeting.Your book sounds like a great read for me. It’s definitely on my TRL. Thanks for the opportunity.
