Tell Me a Story or a Big Fat Lie! (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is Amanda Honea!
*~*~*

IMG_8426I bought this little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. “Story Cubes” is a brainstorming game. You roll the dice and whatever pictures appear face-up are the ones you use to riff off a story.

Now, I’d like you to tell me a story based on what you see on the cubes. OR tell me a big fat lie—something better than the dog ate your homework or my car broke down on the way home from the office party. Do any of these symbols tell you anything? You can pick some of the images or use all of them.

Have fun with this! Don’t overthink! Here’s the roll…

To make this fun, I’ll offer a prize—a $5 Amazon gift card—good for purchasing one or two stories equally as creative as the one you’re about to tell! 🙂

While eating an apple I was stung by a bee. Every nerve and muscle blazed with sensation. I jumped into the nearest fountain for relief, but became enervated instead. I pulled myself out of the water and immediately fell asleep. I dreamt I reached the end of a rainbow where I found a golden door. I peered into the keyhole and saw a friendly alien peering back at me. She smiled and said, “When you awake your bee sting will have left your sex pleasantly satisfied.” She waved her hand goodbye. Instantly I work up and discovered she was right. : D

I wanted to sleep in , but the apple harvest was all go. Having to contend with bush fires, insects, creepy co-workers did not help. So, I lent a hand, stopping often for water breaks.

I had a crazy dream the other night… It was Alice in Wonderlandish with a rainbow full of different colored apples falling down into a fountain and a swarm of bumblebees that were on fire hanging around…. the only way I could find a way home was to ignore the talking alien and follow the hand to the keyhole.

The bees were buzzing on a warm summer day while the palm trees swayed in the wind and a beautiful rainbow filled the sky.

My alien friend and I went for a hike in the hills and saw a stunning rainbow ahead. We decided to try to follow it to where it touched down, and a buzzing bee appeared, seeming to lead us along the way. To our surprise, the bee and the rainbow led us to a bubbling fountain. At its center was a shimmering crystal apple. I reached out to touch its glittering surface, and as my fingertip grazed one facet, the apple seemed to glow, almost as if flames danced within. An enormous portal shot up from the fountain’s depths, with a keyhole shape nearly the size of a door. A sparkling path led from our feet to that entrance…

The Alien was visiting earth after hearing the legend bout a magical rainbow that could put you in eternal sleep if you touched it. However the first thing he found was an apple , confused he put it in a bag when a huge fire started. The alien could flee easily and when in security he took the apple from which a blee flee thanking him for bringing her to safety far from the fire. To thanks the alien; the little bee showed him the way the fountain of young telling it was better to live his dreams than simply dreaming them.
