Saturday Puzzle-Contest: Trying something new…
Saturday, June 17th, 2023

UPDATE: The winner is…Ellen Blakley!
*~*~*

This morning, I’ll be sitting in a workshop with my daughter and one of my granddaughters, learning a new craft. Something I’ve never tried before. WE’VE never tried before. And I can’t tell you how excited I am. Yes, I have an art room filled with supplies for a ridiculous number of arts and crafts already, but I’m on the side of there’s never too much STUFF to learn. I’m nearing 65, and I have to fit it ALL in before I go.

So, when I post this and walk away from my desk to get ready for the fun, I have a question for you to ponder, perhaps a challenge you might accept.

Today, or this weekend, or this month, is there something NEW you want to try? A new craft? A new recipe? Shopping at a new store? Eating at restaurant you’ve never tried? A trail you’ve never hiked? Some new adventure you want to undertake—big or small? Say it here then accept the challenge of actually doing it! Life is about collecting memories and experiences, about sharing journeys. Name something you will make happen!

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, share the challenge you will undertake! Enjoy the puzzle!

Now that I have my garden in, I have eliminated that from my list. I have been wanting to paint bricks to put in my front yard. I want to put book covers on them–some of my fav books. But I also want to create book covers for a few of my unpublished books. The downside is I never painted on rocks or bricks before, but I have been accumulating paint and glazes, so once I get the (and they don’t have to be perfect) bricks from my neighbor, I can scrub them and begin. Of course, I have to design them first.

I’m going to try to crochet a rug using strips of fabric. I saw a. Ideo of this and it looks like something I could do easily.

My whole life is new experiences right now. Having moved to a new city in a new state, I am learning all kinds of new things. Some easy and fun, some not so much. But life is an adventure And I working to make this one a joyful one.

I am going to try several new recipes this next week. It is always a major adventure and event when I do because my husband does not like to try new foods.

Trusting the knees after the collapse and walking using a cane instead of the crutches and walker I have been using for the last 3 weeks. Afraid of falling again as still healing from last fall. Hard to trust since last time no notice before legs gave way.

I’ve done a lot of needle crafts – crewel, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, but have never had success with knitting or crochet – I’d like to learn to crochet.

I think the challenge I’m going to undertake is my occupational therapy….& hopefully bring my lymphedema under control to end the extra swelling. I’m also going to attempt to have my Grandkids do a little project & paint some rocks circling the light pole along the driveway….kinda to brighten up some of these areas.
