Today is Letter Writing Day! (Contest)

UPDATE: The winner is…Melinda Barrera!
*~*~*

I don’t know about you, but I’ve fallen out of the habit of writing letters—and I think it’s a damn shame. Worse, I think it’s very sad that penmanship and letter-writing are no longer taught in school. Did you have a teacher who helped you find a pen pal somewhere in the world for you to exchange letters with?

It’s such a civilized thing to do, I think. A tangible way of connecting. I think the last time I exchanged letters with someone on a regular basis was with my grandmother. She enjoyed getting letters and saved them. I have letters of hers that I saved. They were never of anything very important, just notes to catch her up on what was happening in my life. There was real joy seeing a letter from her waiting in my mailbox. She shared little tidbits of her daily life, and I could hear her voice when I read them. Again, that tangible proof of love.

My question to you today, for a chance to win a FREE download of one of my books, is… Do you write letters? Not emails. Physical letters? Do you receive them? And do you miss them, too?

I don’t write letters anymore, but my handwriting is horrible so I don’t miss writing them. I do miss receiving them, they felt more personal than an email.

    It’s been a while since I’ve written a letter. I usually jot a little
Note in cards but nothing long. I’ve thought about sending letters to a few people. Maybe now I’ll get back to it 😁

Almost 70, I never gave up doing letter writing. I would say 50% of the 60 Christmas cards I sent this year had a handwritten note inside. Writing and getting them back, handwritten letters/notes are like a refreshing cool breeze in the heat of the summer.

I do write letters to a family member who is in prison. and he writes back. I tell him about vacations, how work changes are going, and family drama. I include pictures when I travel. He tells me about new projects he is working on, and the guide dogs he has been training and sends pictures.

I don’t write letters anymore. I used to when I was younger and loved it. I always loved to get letters from family and friends to catch up with them. I agree it is a shame that penmanship and letter writing is gone now. There are some young ones that don’t even know how to address an envelope. Such a shame.

I do write letters, I love stationary and words. I text online or whatever but writing is so much more personal and you can get your point accross better with the written word.
There is just something about getting a letter or card with a note in the mail that I love doing for others and getting myself.

I had a pen pal that I was writing to but I haven’t heard from her in about 2 years, then I moved unexpectedly. I sent her a letter but never received a response from her. I miss writing letters.
