Picture this…
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

This is one of the most sigh-worthy photos I’ve found. I plucked it from Gerard Butler’s website a long time ago. It comes from a scene in the movie Timeline. I printed it out and tacked it to my cork board. Whenever I need to remind myself what romance is about, I just look up.

Sometimes writers like to use photos as prompts to get our imagination spinning out new ideas. I haven’t written a story inspired by this photo yet, but I’d love to give it a try.

If you were the writer, staring at this picture,
what sort of story would you conceive?

I would think in the historical mindset. Kinda like Robin Hood and Maid Marion. And if you are writing it DD it would the erotic version of Men in Tights.

Sara! Men in tights, huh? Bwahaha! You know I’d have to do a time travel so the heroine could have fun with the fashion!

I can’t think…Gerard totally boggles the brain and turns to mush. Never saw Timeline, but I think it will have to go on the list.
As far as the story goes I see two new lovers parting ways, not knowing if fate will be kind enough to bring them back together. The journey he is about to take is riddled with danger and intrigue, but it is also perilous to leave her behind unprotected. Many bad things would happen in between their parting and reunion, and they would not be the same people they were during their very brief love affair. Will they be able to reconnect?

    Booklover! Very, very nice!

Sara! Yup, I’d have to be the heroine in that book too!

Ohh, you know I love that picture. Timeline was a stinker, but he was so gorgeous with those curls…
