A Saturday Puzzle Contest, and Open Contests! Lots of Prizes!

UPDATE: The winner is…Roxie A. Jones!
*~*~*

Happy Saturday!

I’m busy finishing Eli’s story—my handsome silver fox! If you’d like to read a snippet from the opening of the story, it’s right here: READ AN EXCERPT

While I’m writing, my SIL and daughter are right next door repainting my bedroom. Now, when I say it’s a major undertaking, I’m underrepresenting just how difficult this task is. I’ve lived a lot of years, and I have a bunch of stuff. So, they shift everything one way then the other to get to the walls. That sounds like I’m a major hoarder, doesn’t it? Like I have so much crap they have to make tunnels to get to the walls. I swear it’s not that bad, but I do have a couple of cabinets—one large—full of collectibles (Russian boxes, Fenton glass, snuff bottles, fortune-telling teacups…) that had to be emptied, and all that stuff is now sitting carefully stacked on a banquet table IN MY OFFICE. It’s a wee bit distracting—all that activity and clutter overtaking spaces…

So, me writing with things piled up around me—get the picture? And I have to have Eli finished by next Friday!!!! I’ll make it, but getting there won’t be pretty. Good thing Eli is! 🙂

I collect purple glass, vintage salt and pepper shakers, teacups, and old plates. And some people may not approve of this but I collect glass pipes.

I collect books. I started collecting afghans that match my decorations. I’ve also collected a few globes. My aunt collected tooth pick holders and Swarovski crystal figurines. I inherited it all so now they are my collections.

I have tins of old buttons that have been here forever. Probably the most of one type of thing I have is books. Too much stuff from past generations so I’ve been trying to thin them out and not add more.

The one collection I still collect in, besides books, is anything with a pansy motif. I have pillows, shoes, towels, tea cups, tea pots, a skirt, and various other things all with pansies on them. They are spread all over my house, and I use many of them. I guess it is a rather low key collection because most folks don’t realize there is an actual collection going on, including my kids. They have never figured out what to get me for gifts. I mean really? Pansies all over the house and books galore. Oh well. My niece knows. She has brought me pansy curtains and this year she made me a book mark with pansies. So someone noticed!

Books is all I collect now. My daughter has the original Beauty and the Beast collectables that have never been opened, that takes up enough room.

I have boxes and bottles of buttons I got from my grandmother. Some of them are so beautiful! I plan to make candles out of them (the kind where the outside doesn’t burn but the inside does because I don’t want to damage the buttons). I collect recipes. Oh how I love recipes!

I’ve pretty much stopped collecting as I’ve no room for much more. Over the years I’ve collected bells, Fenton figurines, & snowmen. I have some Santa Claus figurines that were my Mom’s. I do however keep adding to my fridge magnets. Loved reading Eli’s story….he is one hot silver fox!!!
