Story Cubes: Tell me a story… (Contest)
Tuesday, August 15th, 2023

The winner is…Kerry Pruett!
*~*~*

IMG_8426I bought this little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. “Story Cubes” is a brainstorming game. You roll the dice and whatever pictures appear face-up are the ones you use to riff off a story.

Now, I’d like you to tell me a story based on what you see on the cubes. Do any of these symbols tell you anything? You can pick some of the images or use all of them.

Have fun with this! Don’t overthink! Here’s the roll…

To make this fun, I’ll offer a prize—a $5 Amazon gift card—good for purchasing one or two stories…

I was reading the clues for the scavenger hunt… I hope my friends and I can find all of the items… so far we found the lock, the book, and the chess piece!

The book captured his imagination. He read it by torchlight and on his phone. He read it everywhere.

The princess in the tower needed to break the lock to get away. She reads a book by flashlight to keep her research a secret. When she finally breaks free she settles in a small house in a fishing village.

This is the story of Fred the fish. He loved to read his books by flashlight and the stars. He dreamed of castles and exotic trips looking for ancient beetles. When he closed his book he realized he loved being locked in his ordinary house with just a cell phone to order new story books.

The princess is stuck in the castle reading a book by flashlight waiting for her hero to come unlock the door and let her out. She tried calling him with her cell phone but he’d gone fishing and was out of cell range.
