Saturday Puzzle-Contest — Thunderstorms for days…
Saturday, May 25th, 2024

UPDATE: The winner is…Eileen McCall!

Last night, we experienced heavy thunderstorms. I thought for sure we’d lose power at some point, but we were lucky. Today, it’s still stormy outside, and the forecast is for more rain and storms over the next few days.

So, the pool is not in my forecast.

It’s sad, but today and tomorrow, I’m taking a papermaking workshop. I’ll be in the art center, staying dry. And learning something new. I’ll take pictures. Like I need a new artistic skill, but you’re never too old to learn something new.

With a heavy workload this week, I fell off the wagon of producing a new piece of art every day. I’ve been writing on my new story and have tons of editing gigs. I finished up two of those the past couple of days, so I have a little breathing room. Not much. And the workshop cuts into my schedule, but hey, I jumped at the opportunity. So what if I have to put my real work on the back burner for a weekend. I’m ready to have fun. And again, since the pool isn’t an option…

So, that’s what my weekend looks like. For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, solve the puzzle, then tell me what you have to look forward to this weekend!

5:44. I’m looking forward to remembering those we lost and loved during war time. As a military mother it hits home.

I have plans, but nothing is etched in stone as the storms are moving east and we are expecting it. IF I get to it, I only have basil to put in (awaiting a friend to pick up the rest of my plants) and I need to cut back a small tree that is growing in my outside window-well. I have suggested to the guys (several different) on ways to cut it back, but they never seem to get to it. Or listen. I plan to make a crescent roll Danish, maybe braised pork chops in French onion soup, maybe baked beans with a few hotdogs cooked in, and maybe a small bowl of mac salad or another side. That will last me for the week. Oh yeah, and get back to my fight with WORD to try to add page numbers. (so far, it is word-3, Cindy-0).
Wishing all a happy holiday–stay safe!

For us it’s also a time of remembrance. However on the other side it will be a happy/sad as we are having a farewell party for our choir director and his family. He will be greatly missed. We will enjoy tomorrow with him and our choir family. Other than that I have book I need to read and review before next Thursday.

Have a great Armistice Day/Memorial Day or what name you know it as. As if not for those who’ve gone before the world might be a different place. God bless all those who served and died for their countries.

There is sunshine, so strangely enough I am looking forward to getting all of the laundry on the clothes line.

We had a Graduation open house today. It was wonderful so see family and friends at something fun for a change. Tomorrow I get to relax and then Monday I will be with my brother for Memorial day ceremonies. Yes, we are both vets and members of the local VFW. He is in the Color Guard and doing services in two locations. For me, that is a very busy weekend.

It’s a rough weekend. My to do list is crazy so what I’m looking forward to is marking things off the list.

Drawing, watching Hogans Heroes, and reading. Doctors restrictions are a pain.

Still working on sorting things out to downsize – found a couple boxes of old cooking/baking things – have to figure out what I might actually use and what to do with the rest (sigh). Hope all have a good weekend and remember why we have Memorial Day.
