While Delilah is incommunicado…a contest!
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Early this afternoon I noticed I hadn’t received any new emails, and that just never happens. I called my Internet provider, and after two and half freaking hours talking to a very nice Indian who had me run every diagnostic in his notebook, we finally threw in the towel and decided a technician needed to come out to fix it. I have satellite, and I live in the boonies. So, it might be as long a week before I’m up again.

I made the trip to Hot Springs to visit my daughter and use her satellite to post this message. And I’m pre-posting several more to tide you all over until I can be here live again. To keep you stopping by I’m running a contest. Here are the rules:

Stop by every day and leave me a note. One posting = one chance to win.

Simple right? I’ll give away two $25.00 Amazon.com gift certificates to two lucky winners.

I’ve pre-posted excerpts and sneak peeks at some things that will be released in the coming months. You’ll be entertained. I can’t wait to see what you all have to say. And if some of you would be kind enough, please hit the tweet button every day to get the word out!

I guess having dial up service isn’t such a horrible thing. (I know it’s sad to have dial up, but I don’t want to pay through the nose for high speed, plus I can use internet at work)

Oh no, DD! I know you are going through major withdrawals 🙂
I hate, with a capital H, dealing with customer service that routes you to foreigners. I can’t understand a word they say and since the topic of pc/technology goes right over my head at the best of times, I’m always well and truly screwed! Then I lose my temper and have to bite my tongue because the poor people over there are just trying to make a living and it isn’t their fault AT&T is filled with incompetant management that causes me to be transferred all over the world three times before I get to speak with someone who can actually fix my problem only to find I can’t understand them- can you tell I’ve been down the road you’re on more than a few times? 🙂
Catch up on your reading and cheer up; with no internet you can’t be distracted from your writing!

I agree, internet problems are the worst!! I also could not go back to dial up!! I have high speed (of course I am not problem free), but my son next door cannot get high speed ( we own 20 acres out here in our boonies, I am near the road is why I am able to get high speed, where he is on the other 10 acres away from the road, so they will not run the cables 🙁 )

Hope you are up and running soon, I know how irritating it is not to have something you need ( or think you need) !!

Oh no, Delilah! I’m sorry to hear that–I get so frustrated with technical problems, especially ones where I have to rely on others to repair! Hope things go smoothly and you’re reconnected in no time!

In the meantime, hope you get lots of writing done without us to distract you 😉

Sorry about your internet. I hope they fix it quick. My son talked me into ordering a droid cell phone so I can still check emails when I’m away or my computer is down. I can’t wait for it to come but I’m afraid it will be too complicated. Good luck on getting back up and running.

    Hey Delilah,
Sorry to hear about the internet woes…hope it gets sorted out soon.

We just had an earthquake here in Ottawa today. I’ve never been so freaked out! The last quake was like 6/7 years ago but it was nothing huge. Today’s quake registered at 5.5 on the Richter scale and was so unexpected…there was no warning.

I can understand your delimia (spelling?) Where’s spell check when you need it? Anyway, I use Satelite too and it goes out often *sigh* it’s either this or dial up *shiver* where I live. Needless to say, rainy days suck for working, and living in FL, I have many of those. *sigh* Hope you get things fixed soon. 😎

Losing internet capabilities is akin to torture in my opinion. The government should actually declare it as a form of torture. Whenever mine has gone out I get cranky and jittery and at a loss as to what to do with myself. I feel so disconnected. And I wish there was a fast way to get these problems resolved, afterall I’d consider being without internet an emergency.

The sad part is we are all so hooked – me included. It’s so frustrating and since I’m not very technologically savy, it’s pure torture trying to talke with foreign techies. I wish you luck!!!

Sad not to see you here DD 🙁 One time my internet provider was disconecting the service for another client in my building and they cut mine off instead. It took me 3 hours of constant phone calls to get them to send someone over in 2 days because they refused to admit that it was their fault.

Hope you get your net back soon. If I lost mine for a week I’d be a little antsy, but I sure would get a lot of reading done. But my daughter, now that’s another story. After just a day she’s be going through withdrawal. About the evening of day 2 I’d be resisting the urge to strangle her.
