UPDATE: The winner is…Roxie Jones!
*~*~*
I would love to have a closet full of pretty shoes but, as a woman of a certain age, comfort rules my choices, so it’s sneakers, slip-ons, Uggs (OMG–they’re like wearing the softest glove on your feet!), cushioned sandals. So, I instead tend to splurge when I can on handbags. I love all the styles, but I do have a couple of favorites. When I’m traveling, I wear a crossbody bag of some sort because I want my hands free, and I tend not to lose the purse when it’s worn on my body like an accessory. When I’m close to home, I love the look and roominess of a satchel bag. I spend money on bags because I keep them for years and hate it when wear on a seam or a handle doom an otherwise usable bag, so I have Coach, Dooney & Burke, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade bags. A splurge (on a well-timed sales event) every couple of years means the top shelf of my closet has a nice, neat row of bags to choose from.
Well, for those who love purses, too, there’s a holiday just for us! Handbag Day! It’s a thing, I promise! I put together a puzzle for you to enjoy. The theme is Types of Handbags. Excercise that gray matter—it’s good for you!
Solve the puzzle then share with us what your favorite handbag styles are for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

I usually have a cross body.

I have several of these since I’m one of those people who likes to buy purses instead of really cool uncomfortable shoes lol

A few years ago I discovered the handmade bag. My first was a lovely messenger bag with a cross body strap. I is lovely for the long haul. My next bag I still carry daily. It’s what I suppose might be called a bucket bag. It’s my own design and fits my needs perfectly. I am currently working on a clutch size with a bit of a handle. It’s cute and fun to make.

I got used to using a backpack for my purse years ago when the kids were still young and it was necessary to carry around all kinds of stuff for them like a small first aid kit and snacks and such. Then came all the hand held electronics and their cords. Then came covid with masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. These days I still carry the electronics, as needed meds(for migraines or first aid), masks(for those few doctor offices that still require them, and even snacks(only now they are for me and not the kids).

Not really into handbags… crossbody.

Probably a crossbody mini backpack (satchel) style bag. Is my favorite. When I actually carry more than small amount.

I’ve reached the point where I always carry a crossbody bag. It’s not falling off my shoulder & I’ve got both hands free for grabbing grandchildren, looking at something or filling the cart. For the past few I’ve gotten, they’ve been Vera Bradley & I just got a new one for Mother’s Day from my grandkids & daughter to replace the one I’d been carrying for 5 years at least. That one is still usable & I’m going to donate it. I’ve got a smaller crossbody bag for when I travel….holds just the stuff I need.

I love a good backpack or a crossbody style. I also love the 1950’s acrylic purses. They are so elegant.

I have one handbag. It’s a shoulder bag. It’s largish with LOTS of zip pockets. The thought of transferring things over to other bags sounds horrific.

When I was working I loved using a fancy backpack and had several nice leather ones. Now that I live in Florida leather backpacks make me sweat too much. My go-to bag now is usually a nylon crossbody. LeSportsac and Baggallini are two of my favorite brands. They are light-weight and can be machine washed on gentle cycle.

I like unusual bags. I use to have one that had a small saddle as the top, a crocheted bag, and a quilted bag. Now I carry a mostly just in my pockets unless I am traveling then as I walk with a cane and have been known to leave my purse behind by accident, it’s crossbody style so I can carry meds that I have to take twice a day.

Don’t do handbags

I use a Vera Bradley crossbody – it’s lightweight & leaves me hands free while also being secure

I used to do totes, but now usually either use a backpack or a crossbody.

So many different handbag “personalities!” I see lots of crossbodies. They do keep things slimmed down and safe. I like that I wear it so I don’t leave it behind somewhere. But I really do love the look and feel of a big, soft satchel. I wish shoes were as comfortable!
